Steve, just tell her that you can drink enough to make dwarves offer to make you weapons, should you need any, and that you recently took them up on their offer. That should scare her enough without making her jump off of the ship to get away from you. ...maybe.

I think she has started to enter the state beyond fear. It is when you know there are horrible things all around you, and that you can't do anything about them. The only way to deal with it is to ignore the dangers you can't oppose or avoid. The only other option in those situations is madness
