Chapter 1: Wannabe | 55

This is where we find out what a jerk Charisma really is. Tomorrow we find out even more! Vertigo, as name dropped by Nadine, is one of the members of Force Magellan. “Norm” of course is being used pejoratively to mean someone without powers - at the time I wrote this (2004) I though I was being pretty clever in ‘coining’ it - turns out everyone else was using it too! Many thanks for reading and for the comments.

@jamoecw: yeah, I think Fatima, like myself, just decided it was a pointless garment for her to wear. And many thanks for the recommendation - Chapter 2 will start in about 2 weeks.

looks like while in water she doesn't use it, then out of water she does. then a situation where she has to transition between the two she doesn't, and from there on out she doesn't. i guess it can be explained away by saying she wears clothes to fit in, but realized how restrictive the skirt would be, and that taking it off would hamper the transition to water (sorta like a dry skin having to use scuba), so dropped it entirely. i was going to add this to my recommended at the beginning of chapter 2, but it doesn't look like i will be around to do that, so i think i will add it early instead.

I will admit that I went and found this comics other site because I couldn't wait for the rest of the story, its just too good to sit through. I love the development of the various characters and plot lines and the direoction you take them. As I hate it when people tell me "oh, this is the good part" I probably won't comment here much, but I will do my best to rate you (probably in weekly chunks now that I'm caught up) and vote for you in contests. I really like the art and hope you put in more comics.

Ahhh, Charisma, the Supergirl you love to hate!

Oh, but there are plenty of situations where not having superpowers comes quite handy.

the skirt starts off being an official part of her uniform (both the "dress uniform" as seen here, worn for special occasions, and the general activity uniform worn during exercise classes), and will be seen again at the start of Chapter 2. At some point in that chapter I decided she had nothing to cover anyway, so dropped the skirt. As we saw in her introductory scene she wasn't wearing a skirt (or anything) in the tank anyway - Fatima would have found it too stupid for words to keep wearing a skirt. In early drafts I had originally planned to do a scene at the uniform depot where we see the cadets picking up their uniforms - we see the clerk asking Fatima what her boot size is to which there was an awkward pause before revealing to the clerk, and readers, that she has tentacles. It was a bit too cute for words, so I went with the tank prank and Sioni being strangled instead!

this would be a good time for a lawsuit, after all you can't go picking on minorities like that. the skirt that fatima wears, was it specially made for her, or was she just clever?
