Magellan History | 1

Beginning today a brief 10 page history of the Magellan universe brought to you in ‘educational DVD’ format by the members of Force Magellan - the top super group within the realm of all things Magellan. Today page's trawls through the golden age and is presented by Epoch (aka Vlad Epoha, yes he's of Russian decent) who we were introduced to on pages 1.50 thru 1.52. As much as I'd like to, I have yet to feature any of these ‘original’ characters in the comic although I do have a few stories planned for some time in the future. The second last panel was a rip-off of a JLA cover circa 2004. Tomorrow… the silver age!

I'm guessing you're not aware of The Streak from DCs Freedom Fighters, although The Streak could fly at super speeds, not run. He was called 'The Streak' because he moved so fast that he left a blured together trail of after images behind, leaving a streak of color in his wake.

i think the nakedness is more of a clothing unable to operate at superspeed. in a plane crash often the victims are found naked, you see when the plane breaks up really fast winds enter the cabin and rip the clothes from the bodies. i am not sure at what speed this occurs, but i believe it is below 200 mph, which would make clothing and speed powers natural opposites.

I am guessing that he would claim to only have superspeed while naked. (bad news for any groupies.) I would like to know what possessed him to start running around naked outside.

@DAJB: "disco mode", love it! Actually at the time I thought of The Streaker I figured it was a fairly inventive name for a speedster that didn't have to evoke flashes, quicksilvers, or other such speedy cliches. @Lemniskate: yes, it's a handy categorisation, one which I didn't feel too shy about ripping off completely...! @alschroeder: I compiled this fairly quickly (which the art shows on occasion) but it really does pack in a lot of backstory and expand the concept for the comic and beyond so it was very effective in that regard. @God of War: we'll, he is wearing goggles! BTW it was utterly remiss of me not to mention that I have also compiled a Hall of Fame about all of the Golden Age heroes... read it here!

Is streaker...naked?

One of my favorite sections, and one I returned to, again and again.

The ages of superhero comics sure are a handy way to create a concise history of superheroes which reflects their adaptation and role in society through the ages.

Ha! Black Hood and Knuckle Duster are clearly in disco mode in that third panel! As for The Streaker ... I think The Flash may well sue! ;-)
