Chapter 2: Leap | 14

So we've seen Go!Anna climbing things before - but I should point out that she can only do that when she's wearing nothing over her hands and/or feet (specifically her fingers/toes) which is why her costume is designed with no gloves or boots. I always thought it was bit weird that Spiderman, for example, could still climb a wall when covered head to toe, or even moreso in shoes when dressed as Peter Parker. Go needs direct contact, skin to surface to be able to adhere to it - preferably rougher surfaces will give her a better hold… glass and shiny metals not so much so. Her finger and toe tips have more in common with a gecko than a goanna - the former uses millions of microscopic hairs in it's toe tips whereas the latter uses claws to climb trees. In hindsight I should have given her claws… claws are cool!

Yeah it's been stated in Spider-man continuity continuity that not even HE knows how he sticks to walls. And just how smart is Peter Parker? Currently in the comics he's part of a Government Think-tank that is trying to create artificial Vibranium. But there are limits. While he can adhere to a surface PERFECTLY so that it's impossible to pull him off (the surface usualy breaks first and is still stuck to him) he can only do so with bare skin or through THIN materials such as socks, cloth boots, cloth gloves, etc. The 'in shoes' thing is an error. In fact, that is the reason why he only had socks on when he ran up to his own wedding to MJ.

I always thought Spidey's shoes were also super thin, like his gloves, but whatever...

Spider-Man has never made sense to me.

@al - the first Spidey movie showed it nicely with a close-up of the microscopic hairs/hooks growing out of PP's fingertips... the gloves would have to allow all of those through the cloth for them to work. No way they'd get thru shoes/boots though. It would have made more sense to say it was an electrostatic thing perhaps. @Lemniskate - it's mostly an emphasis thing - say GOanna and you're kind of there.(!) @DAJB - indeed... stay tuned!

I wish I could pronounce exclamation marks mid-word.

I always assumed the boots and gloves of Spider-Man were somewhat porous, but who knows? But you're right, direct contact makes more sense.
