Chapter 2: Leap | 32

So I had this scene from Magellan collected into a neat little 8 page booklet (with new art for the cover)… I used it as a promo publication at a comics & sci-fi convention a couple of years ago. A free copy of the book to the first person to correctly identify the biiiig art mistake in today's update!
BTW I drew this scene a good year before the Superman Returns movie came out, that film also had a scene in which Supes tries to save a plane and rips the wing off it. I like to think that Bryan Singer reads Magellan for inspiration! :D

Huh, won something? ... Ah, it's in the author's comment. Seems like I didn't need that incentive for error-searching :D

I know, but this one was so annoying I just had to!

Y'know. if there are mistakes in your artwork, I think it best not to call attention to it. Chances are people won't even notice!

let's see errors on page: go!anna is upside down in panel one relative to the water, but in panel 2 she is the same side up as the blond which is still in her seat, then in the third panel the plane is right side up. which ever way you cut that it couldn't happen given epoch's relation in those panels. the wing ripped off too cleanly at the fuselage not to have a shear point helping it along. the fire on the wing which has blown off probably needs to be scaled down since the device used would have needed to use a high incendiary line to cut the wing (instead of an explosion) to catch the wing itself on fire in such a manner that the wind wouldn't reduce it or snuff it. if the fire is supposed to be there then you'd need to change it to either a thermite reaction, or increase its smoke levels considerably. a one wing fall would put the wing above the plane, and thus the window which was looked out of would be at a totally different angle. taking off that much wing would cause damage to other parts of the plane (shrapnel if it was explosion, excess incendiary damage to the tail if severed via incendiary). the rapid altitude drop would trigger the emergency mask to pop down from the ceiling. such a hot fire would create a noticeable glow (unless of course we shouldn't see the fire as stated above). the smoke is has a sudden shift as it crosses the horizon (our perspective), which is wrong. i am tired, i am probably missing some other stuff, good job on catching the other stuff guys, now lets keep finding stuff that wrong with the work :)

hah, now you're just flailing about - but you got it kind of right about the turbine, it IS on the wrong side of the wing... but not because it's on the top (since the wing is just in 'freefall') but because if the wing was still attached to the plane the turbine, as drawn, would be pointing in the wrong direction. Anyway, that's close enough for me - if you would like a copy of the book Lemniskate just PQ me with an address to send it to and I'll pop it in the post for you. :)

Turbine on the wrong side of the wing? Too small Epoch?

@God of War, nope sorry. The error is drawing rather than artwork related. If it's any help to everyone it's in the third panel... I slapped my forehead when I realised it was such a dumb mistake.

Epoch HATES a back-seat driver!

Part of background behind her neck is in wrong color?
xmung at 3:40AM, Oct. 27, 2010
ha - also a good pick, but also not what I'm thinking of. It's very possible that there are way more errors in this page than I realised. This is more an error of major improbability...
Lemniskate at 3:13AM, Oct. 27, 2010
In panel 1 the cloth around her neck should be white?
xmung at 2:27AM, Oct. 27, 2010
good pick on that, I hadn't really noticed that before... sorry, but it wasn't what I was thinking of however. You can always try again though! :D

Is it Go!Anna's right hand? Her fingers look like they're all the same length. Also, the ring finger probably wouldn't bend that way. Now I feel like I'm highly criticizing your art, even though I consider you a great talent, but you asked and that hnd looks a bit like one drawn by Rob Liefeld (after he stayed up for nights on end perfecting it until he got it as close as he could to a passable human hand). But it's interesting looking at this now. Knowing what's coming, I realize how much impact this event will have. And if Epoch had never gotten to the plane, I wonder how things would have turned out differently, especially in the next "soryline" (I put quotes around it, because Wannabe through Bad Karma I basically consider to be one long storyline--and a fun one, too).
