Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 19

In addition to catching up with Freya, Brelvis and Annie (who we last saw at the end of Chapter 3) we also get to meet two more members of the Sydney based super group Oz Magellan (an Australian counterpart of Force Magellan of which Epoch, Hoodoo, Ranger Bill, etc are members). We first met Captain Victoria from Oz Magellan but she's conspicuously absent here (gee, I wonder why??) and now we've got Red Centre and The Man Who Can. Red Centre (complete with Australian spelling) is a mystic, and the term “red centre” is also a geographical reference to the heart of Australia. The Man Who Can is actually from Singapore, and is a tech-telepath - meaning he can interact with machinery with his mind. The name “The Man Who Can” actually evolved out of joke banter with a friend of mine who reads Magellan… and we were throwing about silly code names - I quite liked that one and said I'd include it in Magellan at some point.
BTW, “Boomer” is kind of slang for kangaroo, and Rolf Harris once used the term to mean flying kangaroos in a song of his (Six White Boomers) - so I've named the Oz Magellan plane Boomer 3.
Tomorrow Freya puts Brelvis in his place!
Thanks for reading and commenting. Be sure to check out Crossoverkill which features Hoodoo from Magellan and a heap of other awesome superheo webcomics… there was a new update yesterday as all kinds of mayhem erupt in Fusion's world…

Huh, I figured Booomer was a reference to the bomerang, which is a reference to the wing shape. Also, The Man Who Can is the 27th stupidest code-name I've ever heard.
