Being able to work effectively with very little sleep is a vital skill for superheroes, particularly if they work at night.

that's why in boot camp your first night you don't get any sleep, then for the first week you only are permitted 6 hours of sleep a night. after that you are usually work pretty hard and given very little time to eat, in the end even if things are really bugging you you can get at least 6 hours in a night. also getting no sleep doesn't seem to impair your already impaired abilities. the threat of getting kicked out was always laid over our heads in order to unnerve and motivate us. and yes people do snore like that, but even that won't a recruit awake at night.
