Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 72

So while Blue Team sort out their strategy we take a look in on another group of cadets - Rochelle (super-high IQ), Charisma (flying powerhouse and daughter to super hero Epoch), Chang (wizard) and Maya (illusions). We've seen Charisma the most, especially in chapter 2, Chang and Maya a bit several pages ago and Rochelle somewhat fleetingly here and there. As for the punch line “We're in the room” (ie. “I'm right here”) it seems to get used twice an episode in every sit-com these days so my apologies… it seemed a lot more original when I wrote it! Rochelle's probably no different from a whole swathe of other super smart characters who thinks that anyone dumber than she is (ie. everyone else) is beneath her contempt… but I do enjoy writing her acerbic observations.
Tomorrow… Charisma's great plan!
Thanks for reading and commenting. Be sure to check out Crossoverkill which features Hoodoo from Magellan and a heap of other awesome superhero webcomics…

@Nepath - thanks! :) @shastab24 - Indy Planet is a possibility. Finding the time to deal with putting something together is an issue at the moment. @jamoecw: the good thing about writing for her like that is that it also effectively acts as snarky exposition. @AzuJOD: the high IQ snarker seems to be a fairly standard trope. Mindmistress seems to be one of the politer smart types although even she can snark.

I guess super intelligence doesn't come with good manners.

ah the problems of the soliloquy. maybe she should offer them peace and quiet during their soliloquies, though i doubt that would benefit them. and yes i know that she is talking into her wrist watch/com device/electronic diary. it reminds me of the season 1 finale of ST:TNG when they mention that they have become so enlightened that they don't need internal security or even locks, so very naive, being so short sighted that they can't even fathom the possibility for the need at some point in the future. in kwon's case it would be the most common of social courtesies.

Just read that last 6-7 pages in a run, the writing in this scene is excellent! It's like watching a sitcom...Magellan is fast becoming my favourite comic on the Duck at the moment.

This page nicely shows Rochelle's character--she just doesn' care about what her peers think. It's a fun aspect about her that worked well in the Mindmistress crossover. But that's quite a bit of time from now to be uploaded on Drunk Duck. I ask this a bit much now, but I've been looking over comics on IndyPlanet and intend on putting one for ale there, so it's on my mind: have you ever planned on putting Magellan on IndyPlanet (or other such print-on-demand service)? I know its issues tend to be rather huge and unable to accommodate saddle-stitching, but the format is quite print-friendly, with the uniform page sizes.
