Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 78

OK… there's a timer running in the top corner of some panels counting down the time they have left until (Robo) Evil Weevil releases his mutagen and the exercise is over. Just FYI!
Bill gets to show off some of his strength here. The following sequence of pages, using such a small group makes it possible to allow all four characters get their moment in the sun… something that is lost in larger team ups (says the guy who has a bajillion characters in his comic!!)
I quite like page, especially the shot of Kaycee in the vent.
When I wrote this page (back in 2006) wikis were just becoming a major concern so I was taking a punt they'd still be around. So Sioni's comment is prescient!
Tomorrow… bugs!
Thanks for reading and commenting. Be sure to check out Crossoverkill which features Hoodoo from Magellan and a heap of other awesome superhero webcomics…

@jamoecw: they're state of the art, make-no-noise-when-being-crawled-thru-ducts... ;-) re the hacking... Go!Anna will have some thoughts about that very soon...

this is one of those situations that could never happen, even though it is seen in movies all the time. finding ducts that are even big enough for a child is rare, and even if it was big enough, the noise is really loud due to flexing of the ducting. hacking the system is mostly about configuring the hacking software for the software you are hacking into, disabling security loops is easy and fairly standard if you are familiar with the system, all in all i'd say four minutes is par (including boot up) for someone that knows what they are doing. batman seems is pretty impressive right off the bat, which means he would be much better than kaycee right now (if they started training at the same time), but the problem which heroes that are like that, is that they should be much better and have a significantly greater impact when they are done training, thus they are actually sub par that never end up pushing themselves. they make for pretty boring origin stories, so i am glad that kaycee isn't super human, without being a super. the following sequences i think are some of the best thus far in the story, as it shows real teamwork towards an objective (instead of just busting heads together).

Does that make Casey an in-duct-ee? Sorry, couldn't resist.---Al

@shastab: True, she's only first year, but she's been essentially training and learning how to be a skill based hero for a long time now. Since she has to make up for the lack of actual powers, I see her throwing herself into all kinds of fields in order to be whatever a team needs to get the job done. She's the Batman type in a world that so far hasn't had any.

And one thing as well is that this truly shows Kaycee's technical savvy. In little time, she has hacked the system and reconfigured it (my computer would probably still be booting up in those four minutes). And she's only a first year. It's the little things that count.
