Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 79

This is the first real look into how the robots in the RoboMat interact… we did see Kaycee and Nadine kicking the crap out of a few near the start of the chapter but that wasn't in any particular scenario. The kid bots were particularly fun to write for.

We also get to see Montana-Rose use a spell. There's a special reference made to the fact it'll keep the bugs down for a few minutes - my thinking is that the more powerful a witch/wizard the longer their spells will last… not all that long in MR's case.

Tomorrow… Not-Force-Magellan to the rescue!

I have it in mind that magic in the Magellan universe is a form of energy manipulation - you can't get anything out without putting something in; what that thing going "in" might be will vary - spells, potions, gestures, artefacts - but how they create an outcome will be up to the ability of the witch/wizard to access and manipulate a "magic force/energy". That's why Hoodoo has been in trouble over in Crossoverkill... the current alternate dimension has no magic force for her to access. There will be considerable exploration of magic in this chapter... from Montana-Rose's hexes all the way up the scale...!

a powerful wizard/witch might be able to teleport the bugs into the earth, then teleport down and teleport the kids to safety. heck powerful enough magic might just turn the gas into harmless air. in fact if anything happens that is out of the ordinary a wizard might have done it. kinda like the jagged edge of the antennae in panel 3 being reversed, a wizard did it. as for the kid thing, it was sort of expected. part of a rescue is dealing with those you are rescuing. what sort of magic system did you have in mind in the magellan universe? or are you just winging it?

@Legend Comics: funny you should mention the kidbots' acting like kids... that'll be addressed slightly in the next update. The creepy factor is probably some kind of uncanny valley effect!

I love how even the robo-bugs have personality. There's something mildly creepy about those robo-kids acting like real kids. Maybe it's just me.
