@jamoecw: There are a few things about frame 4 that appeal to me personally, the back lighting and use of shadow, the slightly off kilter (handheld camera) angle to the framing but also there's a particular look on Flambe's face which indicates a real level of concern about what they've stumbled upon. Likewise, Redd in panel 5 (I feel, anyway) has a look and posture that really conveys "oh shit, this is bad" without her having to say anything.

yes the melodrama is always a trademark of any wise magic user in stories. like the saying, "blacker than the blackest black.", "foulest, i say!" is just hilariously melodramatic magic user talk. i can't put my finger on it, but flambre in panel 4 has something good about her. not good as in the opposite of evil, but drawn well or something. i like it, but it bugs me that i don't know why. maybe their is microprint hidden in there somewhere. But a kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into being; nor can the dead ever be brought back to life.
