Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 133

When this page first run there was a bit of discussion over whether indestructable and invulnerable were the same thing. I contend that in the Magellan universe at least there are sliding scales of invulnerability - some characters are more vulnerable to some effects (eg radiation) than others (eg poison gas), that it wasn't a blanket invulnerability. I think Epoch acknowledges that he can take a lot of punishment making him relatively invulnerable but he can still be injured. Since he's in his late 30s, early 40s he's starting to learn that he's not as young as he once was.
Notice how I don't even attempt to explain why Charisma decided to join Magellan… I doubt it could even be covered in one page!
Tomorrow… arrival…
Thanks for reading and commenting. Be sure to check out Crossoverkill which features Hoodoo from Magellan and a heap of other awesome superhero webcomics…

Poppet!? Hah! I'm sure she wouldn't want us reading that... I mean if she were real. ahem. I love the dynamics between these two. It's like they have an actual history together that's already been written, we just haven't read it. Does that make sense? Whatever.

ah yes, the father-child talk about ageing and how you should take care of your body now so you don't end up with the same injuries that they have. and charism is just trying to get out from her father's shadow. a common story, but few really understand it, least of all one casts a shadow who hasn't lived under another's shadow. this is actually one page that really lets charisma's character build. the specifics aren't there, but the general idea is there, which helps build depth to a character that most authors wouldn't bother to build depth with. In peace, sons bury their fathers; in war, fathers bury their sons.

He should have said "I'm not as invulnerable as I used to be."

Superman's "invulnerable", but other Kryptonians can give him a black eye, and Doomsday can kill him. There are degrees of toughness.
