Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 134

One of the joys of something as huge as the Magellan set-up is the opportunity to insert totally random characters. This receptionist is one of those. Never seen before and, sad to say, never to be seen again. I really have to use her again, she's pure gold!
Lots of shiny reflective surfaces in this page, I was clearly having fun!
Tomorrow… Redd on the trail!
Thanks for reading and commenting. Be sure to check out Crossoverkill which features Hoodoo from Magellan and a heap of other awesome superhero webcomics…

@Lemniskate: Kaycee's saying thanks for the lift into Security rather than thanks for the "good luck" comment, but I see what you mean. My favourite line is "You still here?" Now I think of it, she kind of reminds me of Roz from Monster's Inc...!

the receptionist really makes the scene feel like it happens in a training facility. it fits quite well, though she is a little too nice for navy training personnel who are dicks, and too mean for those are not. which is pretty much how magellan is done in the rest of the book (story/chapter/thingy), so it is absolutely perfect. though in hind sight maybe a crack about bill being attracted to the receptionist might have been something she could have said. it is pretty typical for them to come out of left field with some sort of rejection to romance, when of course you weren't and wouldn't have been thinking of such things. "look cock for brains, staff and students aren't allowed to fraternize. so quite creeping me out and kick rocks." Every care must be taken that our auxiliaries, being stronger than our citizens, may not grow too much for them and become savage beasts.

Rudest receptionist ever! But then, Magellan is closer to a military installation than a place of business...

I like the "no need for exposition" line.

Say, could it be that in the last panel the "Good luck" is supposed to be read before the "Thanks"?

I say this is where Amanda Waller ended up in your universe. It explains her attitude and a bit of her look.

You need to use her again? No. What you need is to give her a spin-off series! Always nice to see the minor supporting cast have personalities too.
