Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 207

In case you missed it, Vostaok had made previous references to being detained at Magellan, although it has not been revealed why. Anyway, he's spotted a chance to escape and he's taken it… disgusting as it might be!! Is the last we've seen of the little critter?
This was a little fun sequence that I had not thought of when I first introduced Vostok but once it suggested itself some many pages later I just had to include it.
I kind of like how it was possible to make him look so limp and lifeless… plus changing the saturation in the colours makes it look like he's really on death's door. Clearly being out of an acquatic environment does not agree with Vostok. I will endeavour to do an origin story for him one day!
Tomorrow… can Kaycee save Vostok…

what a risk, what if the drainage is good and thus there isn't a lot of water to keep him moving along the pipe once it levels out? what if there are screens or chemical treatment points along the pipe? in my experience i'd say that average odds would put him at a dc18 survival roll, with luck being the only applicable bonus. he likes to take chances, which is probably why he is in trouble. he is a nice enough guy/thing so i doubt he did anything to evil. though being a psychic means that he might have been able to gather info on such dangers and isn't really taking a risk at all.
