You know things a re bad when blood starts coming out of the eyes/nose/ears… I've since found out that it's probably unlikely due to any mental effort… but hey, comics! Also the whole blleding thing is a trope in its own right.
Tomorrow: will Mudge make it??

well bleeding from the ears seems unlikely without a concussive force to break the eardrums, the eyes and nose is simply due to bleeding high up in the sinus canal, as it is attached (as well as to the brain). so if the brain bleeds, you bleed from the eyes and nose, which can happen due to brain damage. as shastab pointed out if the brain expands it might not have the room and thus get squished, causing brain damage and thus bleeding. though there are numerous other things that can happen to cause such to happen, such as the brain swelling and causing blood vessels to burst, or even an infection of the brain.

It's been established to take a toll physically, so it stands. After all, it could be like the movie The Butterfly Effect: he bleeds because his brain is expanding too rapidly in order to fit in the new information.
