Chapter 4: Bad Karma | 248
xmung on Oct. 18, 2011
One thing about setting a story on an island full of super-heroes is that, all things being equal, the bad guys shouldn't last more than ten seconds. So I had to figure out a way to tilt things in the favour of the villains and really test the mettle of all the heroes. The dragons were part of that, but the one thing that has really been keeoing DragonKlaw and Miasma safe has been the barrier placed around the building. It's taking a real concerted effort to get in, three different mantras chanted at the same time and encrypted spells to be broken… it looks like they're slowly making some headway though, but at what cost I wonder??

hmmm, i guess there was some miscommunication, maverick thought that getting in there fast is important in keeping everyone from dying, and that breaking the enchantment will save more than just one person. though losing people is hard and laying blame is an easy way of dealing with it. i guess if anyone is going to give maverick shit, she should. [}'_'{] Hostile armies may face each other for years, striving for the victory which is decided in a single day. This being so, to remain in ignorance of the enemy's condition simply because one grudges the outlay of a hundred ounces of silver in honors and emoluments, is the height of inhumanity.
