63: First Encounter With Squad 9

O.T.'s line in the last panel kind of represents my feelings about dialog during fight scenes. After all, there have been way too many instances in anime and manga where, after pulling off some new move or brilliant plan, will stop, sit there, and talk for five minutes about what they just did, which not only would leave them massively open for attack, but also made them a lot more predictable. In other words, it's just a bad idea.

Well, banter during a fight can work (just look at Deadpool). Not only can it be used to distract your opponents or anger them so they think less rationally. The point I was trying to make was that if you try to explain something or just rant during a battle, IT WON'T WORK! I have nothing against in battle banter, and don't hesitate to use it (although with weaker opponents, there's little reason to banter, because then it's fairly one sided). And if I said all of this in a fight, I'd be fairly screwed.

Banter works beforehand too...

It's also the reason I don't use witty banter until AFTER a battle and won.
