If you've ever wondered what the numbers and letters on dogtags mean…
I
copied most of the information from my Grandpa's tags (changed out the
names and city of course). A little homage to a very nice man I never
got to meet. He didn't die in war, thankfully. He died in his old age
(He was born in 1910).
My dad doesn't bring him up much, but one of the things he says about him: “Damn, but he was a great dad”.
And my dad's close friend said once: “I loved him more than I can say…my ‘other dad.’”
My Uncle also says he still shows up in his dreams from time to time.
And of course my oldest sister adored him. ^.^
After
the “T” for Tetanus shot there should be digits for years, but I
scratched/glared those out because I really don't want to give dates in
this story.
True it's ‘40s themed, but this world isn’t exactly like ours. I figure ambiguity is good here.
