Bonus: Neuro Cores

i'm not 100% on the numbers there…. supposedly the human brain has on average 100 billion neurons. i guess it's 50x? send help

neuro cores are bascially just big old brains. they crunch numbers and calculate probablities. they actually get restless when they don't got something to *think* about. you feed it numbers via an interface, and watch the output. inside ships the core is directly connected to the ship's navgation system (lets the core *see* what the ship sees) and can calculate on the fly. no human input necessary, just tell the core your destination and it will get you there on its own. carbon based brains have much higher potential than silicon based computing. also much easier to engineer and maintain.

another major advantage is that organic AIs can operate autarkic. they can make “instinctual” decisions that an artificial algortihm based AI cannot. funny thing is, there is no solid explanation why neuro cores can do that. some suspect the billions of years of genetic memory stored in its code give it an instinct for survival that's beyond human understanding. or maybe it's just too smart, impossible for mere humans to see the world the way it sees. patterns upon pattern.

humming bird hearts beat over 1000x per minute. neuro core hearts need to beat that fast to deliver the necessary nutrients for the heavy computing they gotta do. needs a steady flow of nurtients to be able to function at all, gets injected into the core with a good old fashioned needle and a drip.
