Cell expiry doesn't necessarily mean instant death, just means that the factory gives no guarantee how much longer he will last after that. His body would eventually start to break down, it's like a sped up aging process. This can be prevented with youth drugs/body part replacement, much like you can switch out the tires and engine of a car. Say it with me now: All a matter of money.

The art is kinda taking a backseat to the text on this one. If you don't mind me saying, it's just kind of jarring. Maybe if you made the text slightly purple to match the images. The artwork could come forward. As it is the pictures kinda feel like they are behind the balloons.... If that makes any sense

I think i see what you mean, i don't think making the text purple would be doing readability any favors though. Leaving text black was an intentonal decisison from the start to make it stand out and be legible. And yeah with exposition heavy pages the speech bubbles always feel intrusive, dunno how i could fix it. I usually just bite the bullet and accept the ugliness. That text's gotta go somewhere. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But the producer could probably put in some programmed obsolescence in their products - unless selling the replacements (to owner who grew affectionate to their property) might be more profitable than to sell new ones so it makes sense.
