To answer a question, yes, memories are in color, as are stories, other planes of existence and anything that isn't the main storyline. It helps to keep the two worlds separate.

This is also me filling in some plot holes.

First…the Mika eye thing. Why does the very earliest picture of the young Mika has her eyes in tact and no scars? Heavy make-up covered most of the damage. And as you can see, the pale skin and purple hair. She didn't go all grey till after the attack. This may require further editing if I missed something, but I'm sure someone will point out my Fail if I have.

Second, why the Taro being mistaken for Tara in the past by both Bengal and Papa-san and Ryujin is that she actually did exist, but they all got the details confused.

Also: Props to Jekyll. Prior to his comment about Mookie being emotional about Weasel's face, she was angry in the upcoming scenes. Her crying With Taro does seem a lot more likely and effective. I didn't originally think of that.

Don't worry about the eyeshadow: she's been crying and wiping her eyes the whole time, so I'd think that would probably remove it.

Well, yes, Taro is aware of his granfather being Bengal. He was unsurprised by him during the wedding smackdown, and if not, he would have been informed by the rest of the team after. But what is he going to do? He himself never really experienced more than the whole hateful old man homophobism. But it's kind of like any other cranky old racist grandparent. You might hate them, but they come from a different time, and there's not a whole hell of a lot you can do about it. He's also a yakuza boss. Taro might suspect something, but if Bengal was able to cover up the details of Tara's death to the point where the police and even the other mob families themselves don't even know she's dead, he could probably disguise the cause of her death to Taro himself. IF, of course, he had an actual hand in it.

I have a small thing biting at the back of my mind. I could be wrong but Taro is aware that his grandfather is Bengal, right? It just seems that he mentions grandfather without any sort of anger. Maybe Taro's just that sort of sensitive that his sorrow overrides his anger at the moment, but it's hard to imagine anybody mentioning Bengal at this point without at least some degree of hatred. Then again, it may just be my own personal hate of Bengal that makes me feel everyone in the story should feel the same.

She had scars, as demonstrated by the flashback storyline about Papa-sama's origin story, how the young Mika was given to him by a strange glowing creature. However, she didn't lose sight in her eye until after the attack. There IS a reason for this, and it will be addressed in a later issue.

Sorry to post so much but I just noticed something, if you look mookie is a mix between herself and Tara right now, is interesting to see this due to her being *Mookie* before the story and a mix now... she could just be emotional from taro's story or we may be seeing a mookie that's trying to give her friend what he needs at the moment. I bet mookie is just that kind and loving, a friendship blossoming and a real depth to beloved characters, author ninja you truly are a great story teller and a wonderful artist.

Woo, go me! Thanks for the kudo's AN. It just seemed more in Mookie's character to be crying along with poor Taro after hearing this particuluar sob story. Bit confused about her Mika looking (comparatively) more cheerful. You said she didn't go gray until after the attack...didn't she get the scars IN the attack from Bengal, or am I wrong on this. Rather early in the morning here, so I'm still half asleep.

Yes and no. Weasel met Tara as they were younger, but the details about Tara's fate were covered up by the Akatora clan. Weasel knew there were a set of cattwins, and as of right now, still thinks there are two of them.

one question...did weasel know all this when he changed taro to tara just because he hated him at the time
