Chapter One Page 13
D0m on July 6, 2007
Ooh, shiny.
I'm glad I put this page out so quickly- it's all thanks to my decision to take Fridays off.
This took me about a day to finish, and I'm quite proud of it. I stuck with the Joshua Middleton style because of all the great reception I got with page 13. I think the sky and stars, the Queen's glowing face, and the orbs on the bridge were my favorite portions of the page. After I finished, I sat back and looked at it as if it weren't my own- it's a great feeling, and I can sense myself improving.
The Queen has finally been silenced, I never thought I'd see the day! :o) Are there any takers on telling me what that bridge is actually leading to? What's all that green stuff, anyway? And what's with the city?
Same voting incentive this time, since the updates were so close together. Thanks for supporting Nadya! We have much in store for you all!
Replies go here until I can figure out why the comment box is so stupid:
dangerfunk: Not Earth! Although, I never -did- say where the bridge goes to!
I heart artists: You're too kind. :-)
Wyrvvn: Thanks a lot, and KEEP experimenting. I was surprised how far I've come along just by hacking away at Photoshop in my spare time. Learn those hotkeys, kid.
Silverwordz: Thanks! And yes, that is Charna standing there. Wonder what she's doing…? If you want to be let in on a secret, I want to test out an all-painting style sooner or later.
MetalLuigi: It's always nice to see your comments! Hopefully I can top this soon. I actually got this image in my head of the Queen in her fight suit, slouched on a throne and holding her fencing sword with a really “God-I-hate-my-life” look on her face. :-) It'll fit in somewhere.
And in answer to your question, I -can- feel myself getting better. Trust me, I'm pretty shocked at how far I've come. Whoever said practice makes perfect wasn't fooling around.
Tantz: Love your comments!
JoeRocks1981: Thanks, hehe… :=P
Crave the Bullet: That's one of the reasons I wish I could keep it up here and not go on to the less-pretty page… Ah, well. Welcome, anyway!
Krimblade: I love that word myself! Glad you're using it to describe Nadya. :-P
Huffy the Bandit: Yeah, I pretty much did this 10% pencil, 90% Photoshop. You shouldn't settle for -just- Powerpoint. Invest in a tablet and Photoshop…
DueEast- Thanks a lot!
PatrickDevine- Yeah, I installed moon two on a whim! I think the city is crooked because I originally thought it was in relation to the bridge, or something… If I get time, I may fix that. Thanks for bringing it up!
Matchhead, Darkman and Witt: Glad you like it!
SilentKitty: Great to know that you like it, too. All of this because of comics like PT showing me that I should settle for nothing but the best. I'm gonna try to have some consistency in her face.
Bloodharlot: Come back soon!
FAL: Coming from you, I know I did something right! Sometime, you should teach me to make that awesome lineart you do… :-P
Lothar- Not as long as you'd think!

Cool - love how you've created the perfect perspective of her face with the light coming up from beneath -everyone's face looks kind of weird lit like that and you've NAILED it, man - beautiful. Love the city, the sky, the glowiness . . . fabulous!!

No wonder this is your favorite page (or was, before 24, at least). Nadya looks amazing. I love the lighting coming from below. I still have trouble figuring out how to do that right, you did it perfectly! The night sky looks so real it's hard to believe it's not. And I hope we get to see the city someday!

Without a doubt the best page you have done!! That face is an amazingly talented drawing, it really, really is good! It reminds me of one of my favourite artists, Terry Moore. For that alone you are going to be the first comic that i have fav'd on Drunkduck.
Locoma at 6:53AM, July 12, 2007
ooh shiny indeed :D impressive landscape! I can almost feel the depth with her standing there and that long shiny path crossing the mountains... wow BTW I took your question about me doing something in photoshop as a technique suggestion, and it's done ;)
Whirlwynd at 11:49PM, July 11, 2007
Like others said before, that face is really good. Love the lighting on her. =) And I like the glowy vines on the bridge.
Th_Mole at 11:23PM, July 11, 2007
Surprise! The mystery deepens!
freefall_drift at 8:01PM, July 11, 2007
I love hre face. Make this style your new baseline. Only thing I'd quibble on, the perspective's a little wonky.
Vindibudd at 6:49PM, July 11, 2007
This is a brilliant page.

Absolutely stunning page. This is a 5 well-earned.
