Chapter One Page 15
D0m on July 20, 2007
This took me forever to finish. About twice as long as page 13, which is insane. Anyway, I think I kept the Joshua Middleton style easily enough, even though panel two was giving me a lot of trouble. Thank God for Charna being a black shadow.
It's fun to actually have these two interacting- this is the most I've had them talk in one page, I believe!
Do you all like the glow on her face? Am I staying to the caliber of art of page 13?
You guys, feel free to take shots at what's happening in this world.
What's an Immortal? Why does Charna care anyway? Just how old IS she? Take close note of how the scenery changes from the next few pages.
Vote for Nadya at TWC and see the rest of this sketch of two characters from another project (the God Tezcatlipoca and the Goddess Freyja ):
and for Buzzcomics, for you Harry Potter fans again… Blysse, an original character I did as a commissh:
As always, thanks for reading! You guys helped me create the greatest hobby I ever had.

I saw the note about the directional whatzit - but when I look at it, but I feel is that we're like a camera on a big flying ... thing ... sort of flying around them in a circle. But that might just be me.

As an Immortal, it's not that I can't die, it's just that I, you know, live forever. Semantics, you know ... ;-)

I'm in love with the second panel. Her face is so pretty and it seems to show a lot of emotion. It's really well done, kudos!

It's funny - in Polish Charna means "black". Not sure if you were aware of that.
simonitro at 11:43AM, Oct. 14, 2007
She's one strange old woman.
Bekefel at 6:55PM, July 27, 2007
Wow, your lighting is amazing!
subcultured at 10:58AM, July 25, 2007
the coloring really sets the mood
dracco at 10:38AM, July 24, 2007
Hey, this is beautiful! Fav'ed at once!
MrSynnerster at 5:11AM, July 24, 2007
ooo, things are getting interesting.

If you are influenced by Sandman, then immortals are more of a point of view than a distinct person. Painting is a hard medium, The shape of Nadya's head between panels 1 and 2 changes. I wouldn't have said that panel 1 was Nadya. It has her features, but it's not the proportions you have used for her before. I really like the new rendering technique.

You do wonderful shadows!

Great color and movement here. I'm really caught up in this story. I especially love the shading!

Dangerfunk- You're absolutely right! Tera- Thanks! KamiDaHobo- Hehe, knowing how to speed paint comes in handy! SilentKitty- Welcome back! And I'm glad you like this- the lighting was a wee bit of a hassle. Linda X- Thanks for a great, constructive comment! I actually perceived the two of them to be walking on the curve of the bridge that would but the Queen to the left of Charna. Tantz- You have the best comments ever, hehe. Charna is a bit immature, yes ( but don't let her hear you say that!). Charna is amused, certainly. Rubygem- Thanks, and welcome! MagickMaker- Thank you- why does it sound like you're reluctant?
magickmaker at 4:56AM, July 23, 2007
Whoa, you have totally awesome coloring. I'm in, um, awe...

Beautiful illustrations AND striking color. BUT... Screen direction is important, not only in film but in illustrative storytelling, too. This means if you establish a character facing left, like in panel one, that character must continue facing left unless you re-establish with a neutral shot (such as straight on shot, not favoring any direction) or do so by changing the master angle in a completely new wide establishing shot. When you character changing the direction she's looking as in panel two) it appears to the reader as if she's looking behind her and this breaks the suspension of disbelief. Your work is very nice and very cinematic but it deserves and needs directional attention.

Really nice work, as always. ^^ I really like the lighting on the queen's face in the first and second panels, it's very effective.

Very good page. I'm awed by those skies!

I like the distance between the queen and Charna. It is too far away to imply any sort of connection between them, yet close enough to show that they are walking together because of need. There is a chilliness on the part of the queen which amazingly enough I don't seem to feel from Charna. Charna comes across as a semi-amused character, one who knows she can do away with the impudent, audacious child of a woman (if that makes sense), yet does not because she knows better. Nadia comes across as rather immature, even if she is queen. Excellent. I can't wait to see how she will 'grow up', so to speak. Also, I am not forgetting those coming to find her. Though I am very much tempted to do so ;) Well done! Keep it up. I love the otherworldly lighting.
Vindibudd at 1:47PM, July 21, 2007
She seems a bit impatient!
dangerfunk at 1:38PM, July 21, 2007
Oh! She's a shadow woman now. I thought you were just using silhouette. I sees it now. Still top notch work D0m, good job! Oh! (again) I'm a little late on my prediction but i'm guessing that the bridge takes it's passengers anywhere they want in the world in an instant. Eh? Ehh?! :)
Whirlwynd at 1:03PM, July 21, 2007
The landscape in the first panel is very nice - it seems simple but it has a vast feeling to it =)

Phantom Penguin- Thanks, and welcome! JustNoPoint- Thanks a lot, I had to redo it about twice in this page! Skyangel- Thanks for mentioning me in Simply Sarah, and I'm glad you're hooked! Nepath- Thank you Dueeast- Ah, I never thought about it that way. :-) MetalLuigi- You'll find out more about both of your queries very soon. :=) TheMidge28- Thanks for the fave. Oddly enough, it doesn't show on my DrunkDuck notifier. Thanks for reading through the archives and leaving those lovely comments as well, I saw em. ;-) Jissai- Indeed. =P JoeRocks1981- Good thing it all works, I'd hate to see another style switch so soon. LadyKnight17- Thank you!
