Yes, Shiro's special ability is shapeshifting :)
He is a Druid-type character, so he can shift into small and medium-sized animals.

But while he is shifted/disguised, he is undetectable by surface creatures, (including the Dragons) >:] The drawback is that this exerts a lot of energy from him, especially the longer he stays on the surface.

Like the Dragons, the Fiends have an alternate form. But they tend to stay in their alternate forms most of the time, as their true forms are a lot more hideous. Some Fiends (like Shiro) are shapeshifters, and can disguise themselves into many things, depending on their nature. In Shiro's case, he's a Druid, so he shifts into animals.
