Page 1 Prologue

In 2023 I completed a long running web comic titled ‘Simply Sarah’ which was mostly based on the life of the real Sarah who lived in the flat below me. As the story was based around Sarah's own life it was inevitable that at some point I would become included too. I not only had the pleasure of reliving her life but also of elaborating my own life too.
After completing it I had a number of ideas for short stories in mind but at some point I realised there was only one story I really should be telling and that's my own. It's a story that maybe only a few will properly understand but if I don't tell it nobody else can, just simply because nobody else knows.
This then..
is the truth behind ‘Simply Sarah’
Updates every Saturday!

That must have been a pretty tough time and place to grow up with your internal struggles I would have thought, but hopefully I'm wrong.

I'll echo what others have said. certainly an intriguing start.

It's a hint at what's to come for sure :)

A great start, I can't decide between intriguing or enchanting so I'll go with both. The cover on the easel is a nice touch and as always you manage to convey so much with quiet gesture and body language.

I'm happy with both, makes it seem doubly exciting! The cover was one of those last minute thoughts. I was thinking the room looked a little bare and I used to draw an easel with a half finished painting on which made me think I could use the cover!

It's great to see you back :D (I know, I'm a tad late, but I just found it). I'm looking forward to seeing where it's gonna go. I loved S.S., so I'm sure I'll love your "background" story. Thanks for sharing ❤

Hi Agne, Lovely to see you again too. This really is for S.S fans and anyone who is curious about what it feels like to see life through Nikki's eyes. I hope you enjoy it as much!

Don't know why, but this first page has some of us misting over already... Anticipation and happiness mixed with an excitement. We are so happy this is here and know that it will be done with the same passion and care as Simply Sarah. Thank you for giving us this, we know it's sometimes scary and difficult and painful to open up and show people your life. Thank you from all of us... We truly look forward to it, all of it. *hug*

UBH: That's really touching thank you! Simply Sarah felt like an escape route from my personal frustrations so it's popularity was a wonderful bonus and I was quite content with that but after introducing myself into the comic I realised Sarah was the only one who could have'thought bubbles' which are one of the most important ingredients of a comic character! And 'passion' is the key word here as I have a pile of blank pages to play with and using art and words to express a lifetime of private thoughts and feelings does feel very exciting after having been quiet for so long!

Knowing that this is your own story makes it all the more worthwhile. There was already a lot from you in Simply Sarah, but I think that it will now be even more deeply felt, or perhaps even directly understood. Thank you for opening up your soul to us through your art. With your stories, having such a deep connection to your own life, I feel that the writer is not only you, but also that unexplainable magic that is present in you and your life. I believe Life to be the greatest artist of all, and am happy to be hearing from her through your lens <3

Thank you Edniz for such a lovely comment, when I started Simply Sarah it was more personal reasons than most readers realised and it was as that story came to an end that I began to realise my own story may have greater value in illustrating what gender dysphoria really feels like. Relatable no doubt to some readers but hopefully also better understood by many outside that world too.

I'm very much looking to Nikki's story! And is Becky on board for the coloring again?
skyangel at 7:52AM, Jan. 14, 2024
Hi Fred, unfortunately Becky's health issues have increased over the last few years and I didn't want her to feel pressured into joining me on this new venture but if her health improves maybe we'll get her back!
