This page is a quick reminder that Leo is pretty much Nick's best friend in this story so far which gave me a chance to highlight the loneliness of living with a secret which forces Nick to choose between enjoying a social life or grabbing a rare opportunity to feel released from his male persona for a couple of hours. Sad but true!
As for the pool hall.. It's more enjoyable for me to pop my people into new and interesting backgrounds but drawing all those tables turned out to be pretty boring! Next time I think I'll just have them playing on the games machines! But I did enjoy doing this page as we spent many dinner breaks playing in this place when I was at art college and we had another student in our class who would spend his entire lunch hour just trying to get his name on the Space Invaders leader board!
Next week, we join Nikki a she steps out in public for the very first time!
Sorry for the tardy comments, but this last few days got really busy! I like this, two good friends, hanging out in a relaxed manner. Definately a good scene, even if it was a pain to draw.
And I can absolutely see the 'difficulty' in trying to tell Leo about... Well, something she may not take well, and then, that could (as shown in previous pages) damage their relationship. So instead, Nick needs to shuffle the truth so Nikki can have a moment (or two).
I like the pool hall environment. It really reminds me of being that age too. I can understand the pull of wanting to go out without having to be judged.

We used to play pool a lot when I was at art college! It was a great way to spend our lunchtime.

How about combining the two?

That would mean coming out to Leo which Nick's not ready for yet!
