Page - 123 [ Volley Bomb ]

I must make an annoucement first. I think there is a high possibility of a filler page next week. If not that then a very late page. Or who knows, I might even find time to finish the sucker. Dx ;; But this week? Yeah, it's gonna be hellish… Especially Wednesday and Thursday…
I have a ten page paper due on Thursday and a Medieval dinner thing I'm helping my class put together… I need to think of a riddle too. -__o *shite* NOT to mention a mini research paper that's due on Wednesday. Yeees… groovey. @_@;
Words on this page? Hrmm… Ah, yes! This is actually a signature attack of Nomed's. Many people have thought that the Client was killed by that yellow blast Nomed gave off On This Page but that is not entirely true. While that yellow attack Nomed has is rather powerful, it cannot do enough damage as was seen when the Client was blasted. That yellow attack is a shock wave, which is best used to shove enemies away. But using it in very closed in spaces is very useful, as you can then use the walls as weapons.
But this bomb thingy here (it's called an Energy Bomb), is what Nomed used to nuke the Client. This little thing is a doozy. Whether anyone can guess or not, I'd still like to explain some of its properties. The sphere can grow to any size that Nomed desires, though usually he makes it about the size of a basketball. He can spike it, much like a volleyball and he can touch the thing all he wants. But once that thing makes contact with some other surfice, the flexible *shell* around all of the energy “rips” and thus the bomb explodes. It's a fun little thing to kick around.
Time for comments. Dxxx
Dx I must answer Mina_Lunga's comment first, because that bit about Physics has left me kind of abashed.
I guess I can say, for the most part “It seemed like a good idea at the time” but in stronger defense, there has to be a way in order to make this kind of manuver work. =__o Let me try to explain what was meant to happen.
Nomed is falling, with the Blade-Kid still hanging on his shoulders. After they fall for a bit, the other kid jumps down from where he'd been sitting (it was a bright window Dx ;;) and aiming for Nomed's head, the kid kicks him in the chin. My logic had been this so far: that when you punch someone from under the chin, the body will usually follow the head… In this case, if Nomed's head were thrusted backwards by a kick in the chin, his body would begin to follow.
I will admit though, it would not be possible for Nomed to flip completely over, just by that kid's kick. At most, Nomed would just be falling headfirst into the floor. I was not sure about this part, but perhaps in theory, if the Blade-Kid lifted his feet to Nomed's back and then pushed with his feet, then perhaps he could flip Nomed over, the rest of the way. Then the kid jumps off after Nomed flinches a bit and let's him go.
Now to consider the principals of physics here… I wouldn't doubt that I've got them wrong. Dx But I was hoping it was plausible, at least… So, Nomed and the Blade Kid are falling… They're building up speed as they fall, but since Nomed has large wings, perhaps there is a great deal of air resistance build up around them, to slow him and the Blade-Kid down. While this is going on, the other kid jumps down. With his body narrow (perhaps I should have drawn his fists under his own chind) and he is consistantly gaining speed with far less air resistance, perhaps he would catch up with Nomed and the Blade-Kid, his momentum would be just strong enough to give a bash to Nomed's chin, and then Nomed's body starts to follow his head…
This was my theory… It's VERY possible that I've got it wrong, which really sucks because it was not meant to be wrong at all. Considering that Nomed's little plan about thrusting himself towards the ground faster, was one of the three basic laws of Physics, I was trying to get a bit of accuracy in there… at least some plausible theory… It sucks that physics would not apply to this page, because I was really hoping they were. ;___; It made sense to me the entire time. I only have a basic conception of physics, though. x__X; Saying that, I'll answer comments during the week if more discussion about this physics matter comes up.
Kira Dwenna: Thank you for explaining what was going on. ^ ^;; Yeah, you've got it right! Ruethin is sorta… sleeping at the moment *darts eyes*
Xilixon Leviath: xD *peace*
Cheeko: That happens a lot… People can make mistakes and I enforce that. xD Nomed is nooo exception to that rule, no matter how battle savvy he may be.
Freakeh: ^ ^;;; I hope there's worth to it all. I go back and forth on that a lot. x_X; I know what this comic can be, but it's taking so much time to get there. After so long, I hope this will be a comic which causes people to look again in order to see things they didn't notice before… But with all this time, that's going to be very hard to pull off. =__=;
LanceDanger: It's hard to make out inconsistancies in this mostly inconsistant comic. xP But, there is something strange about Nomed's reaction to this particular bit of pain. It doesn't go with the rest of his strong tolorance. xO
So that's my author's notes for this week. But I'll probably be answering comments this time, if more discussion comes up about the physics thing. Dx Suuuucks so bad if I got it so wrong… *leweep*

Well, I didn't think anybody would stand a good chance against Nomed, one-on-one. Now, it seems that it's one-on-two. But, I have to wonder how much this is going to affect Nomed. Okay, enough thinking out loud. Onto the next comic. ^_^

They are *so* dead. And yes, it's been said before, but I like the third panel too. ^^ It's awesome beyond awesome awesome. *nod nod*

the special effects have become increasingly incredible with each passing page. makes for an excellent stroll. as for the physics... i took that calculus base nonsense in college, and if i learned anything, its that you aren't following the laws of physics unless you add the gravity of the moon and divide by the terminal velocity of a grapefruit on mars. seriously though, since nomad's wings could control the drag (like a parachute controls the direction of a fall) everything looks fine to me, except for the kid that jumps in and kick downward, because he'd have to be falling as fast or faster than nomad for his kick to have and real deflection. and then i don't that he'd be able to jump away (kinda like jumping in an elavator). in the end, i'm willing to say (with wings and special abilities in the equation) that it is within the realm of possiblity. and that's good enough for me! sorry, couldn't help myself, just had to add my unedumacated two cents. heh.

xD OH GOOD I GOT A "B" TOO! Dayum, on fire? O_@; Wow... Rotation... I don't remember much about rotation, but Nomed's first idea was to smash the Bladed-Kid into the floor with his own back.... So he would want to prevent such rotation, therefore likely he is manipulating the motion of his own body to prevent it from rotating too much. (He levitates, after all, which is of course why he does not continue falling after the bladed kid leaves his back) Unless there is a way that you can just drop right down... These two pages have had the most horrible consistancies I've had in this comic yet. Dx It's because I am afraid to take up *extra* pages to show certain things because I *want to get through these parts that are driving me crazy* Most of this misunderstanding can be blamed completely on my lack of showing the distance, how the Bladed Kid can jump high and flip around all crazy like... DDDDXXX He can twist and turn in mid-air, but you are very right. A LOT is not being shown... and that's leaving for a lot of confusion. Still though, I would like to try and keep to some basic lays of physics. Physics can pull a whole lot more out of a battle when you apply them... *Other comments I will answer in the author's notes so people can be sure to catch them if they don't check back here. xO*

Wow. That was. . . a disturbingly impressive explanation. I'm not a physics major either - I only took a year, and that "B" grade was designed by the teacher to insure that I never, EVER disgraced their halls again (I accidentally set something on fire during my final practicum). My main quibble was with the rotation and falling speed. See, when things fall they tend to rotate, especially when there is an uneven distribution of weight. So Nomed would naturally be rotated to be on the bottome, with the kid on top. Unless Nomed pushed off and down - that might forestall the spinning. Except that with his wings - and that's where I started to scratch my head. Would the drag on his wings be enough to counteract their falling rate vs. the other kid, given how much dialogue Nomed is indulging in? And how does that relate to the height of the room? Because that kid on this page just jumped back up onto the rafters, indicating that they are within human leaping distance! Short enough to mean that Nomed and the kid WOULDN'T have rotated, but also that he COULDN'T have talked that much AND get kicked in time to be flipped. But, really, does it matter? I mean, you've got a demon tossing a fireball-bubble. I say that Nomed's and the boys' ninja skills totally explain away the last page.

Ohhhh, that third panel RULES!!! The Energy Bomb is awesome :)
Freakeh at 11:54AM, Nov. 27, 2006
Omg I -love- the third panel. I love the one panel going across the page, Nomed's pose, expression and body language, the energy bomb and the lighting -from- the energy bomb! It was really obvious to me that he was forming energy, it appeals strongly to the imagination and you can imagine the very beginning of its creation rather than only seeing what is shown.
Wazaga at 2:11AM, Nov. 27, 2006
erm, third to last panel confused me... is that kid doing a very weird hand stand? or is he sorta swinging around the pole in a weird angle???
