Ch3 Pg16
Cheeko on April 19, 2007
The last panel of this page was one of the funnest 1Q pages yet. I spent a little while wondering how best to capture the mood of Orson's recollection, settling on red light and the silhouette of his twelve-year-old self.
We don't need to feel sorry for Orson, though. Having only one eye never held him back in any way. =)
Anthony out.
Cheeko
You know, even with someone else doing most of the work (and doing a heck of a job of it at that), I still find myself scrambling to get the pages done in time.
I suppose I could blame it on the fact that we're in the last week or so of school before finals and I have a ton of work to do, but there's always a little bit of procrastination involved, too.
So… yeah.
Awww, poor Orson.
I love that silhouette there. That was Anthony's personal touch to this page, and I thought it was absolutely wonderful; I didn't even think of something like that. Simply amazing. I wish he would start putting some comments up here like he did on that first little announcement page that aired two weeks ago; that was cool, and he deserves some extra attention. XD
Yeah, so a lot of you may wonder how Orson got to where he is now. Because it isn't a major factor to the storyline, I may as well tell you that he was sent to live with his uncle, who was a Colonel in the army and raised him as his own son. He, in turn, sent Orson to military school, and the rest is history.
But what a crazy week this week. Especially Monday. Geez.
You know, I almost, almost, ALMOST went to Virginia Tech for school, so I felt really dazed for awhile. My mom's friend's husband was one of the professors killed that day. They have three kids. What is there to tell them? Those people are really going through hell right now, and my heart and my prayers really go out to them. Please keep them in yours too, guys.
But seriously, what on earth could make a kid turn into such a disturbed, crazy person like that? Why would anyone just be consumed with the desire just to hurt other people for no reason at all other than they were “rich”? How? Heck, what can you even say to make someone feel any better about it? What can you do?
…
Cheeko out.

I like how well the emotions of the characters are captured in this page. Both with their posture, expressions, and the colors. Hmm, well... I suppose this is probably something that isn't said too much, nor should it be said, but, I'm probably one of the few people that can look at some of these high school shootings and feel sympathy and remorse for the shooter. It's not like this person was born this way. It most likely happened from past and/or mental trauma. But, I've never been quite right in the head, so of course I'd be someone to say something like that...

And that, ladies and gentlement is a near rough-house labotomy! DDDDxxxxx Good lord that man is lucky that he kept his personality straight/intact, after that.... I'm thinking he just managed to have some chipped bone, though. That little curving space right between the eye and the temple. Dx He is one lucky extremely lucky dude... Kids who get pushed around and put down all the time, can gain a lot of rage from that, for many long years. x x;

I really love the brick effect. Really gives it a background. Oh man I think this is the darkest thing that has ever happened in OQ. Arrowed... VT...oh gosh. I'm just pissed that a guy they KNEW was crazy, was able to get all those guns. It's just not right. I pray to God this incident doesn't get copycats like after Columbine. (Then again VT could be considered a Columbine copycat.) They really should have more restrictions on guns in America.

dang... my heart's bleedin for poor Orson there.... as for what can you say to make the hurting go away? Does it ever get easier losing people? I certainly hope not... if losing a loved one or anyone else ever got to be an easy thing to deal with... what would that mean? I can't imagine it being a good thing...

Well, I left my commentary on the killings on the pic in your dA gallery, so I won't bother here. Great page however. Anthony does a great job coloring your pages. But lord that must be painful getting shot in the eye like that. Quite fortunate it missed his brain.

Cheeko, Anthony, great job on this page! She seems to be pretty well on the mark in her fortune telling skills!! Enough it seems to have impressed Orson! Anthony I don't know how your getting the time to do such a K/A job on this title and still turn your own out...I know I struggle with mine, and they aren't nearly so detailed and great as yours are!

I could tell you all about how such things happen, but I won't in this space. Suffice to say I could easily be in the same position and am probably the only person on the entire planet who understands these people perfectly, but I'm both tired and just not going to bring it up in this forum. I've addressed the issues in an alternate means of expression already. That said, it would be kickin' awesome to have Anthony's coloring powers. Imagine the POWER I would wield!
