And that, my dears, is called cruel irony.
Whine and moan all you want, Lizardbrat. No one's going to feel sorry for you this time.
I again put forth my challenge:
If any of you can tell me what just happened, I will draw you a picture of whatever you want.
You all are very close to a correct guess, but you still haven't been specific enough.
Remember, I'm asking you what DID happen, not what WILL happen. I'm looking for a very specific answer. I don't give away free pictures so easily.
Try finding some evidence in the archives. If no one gets it by Monday, I win and don't have to draw a picture for anyone! >:D
Shameless plug:
Make sure you vote for The Dreamer in this year's WCCA!
I should be saving the pages I have done as buffers, but I DON'T CARE!!! I've been waiting YEARS to show these to you.
THE NEXT UPDATE WILL BE MONDAY. See you then!
Cheeko out.
EDIT:
There has been a correct answer. No more guesses, please. :)

BrendanPN at 3:37PM, Feb. 9, 2008
still thinking. . .
Spitfire65745 at 12:17PM, Feb. 9, 2008
Theres no way in heck I'm gonna be able to figure it out...so I'm giving a "Duh" answer: Lizardman was just blinded and fell off the building after Ranu pleaded for help as he touched the book. *bows* thank you
jiminycricketX at 8:02PM, Feb. 8, 2008
I've got it! The book granted his inner wish, which was to become a human light bulb! Amiright?
Elaine at 7:55PM, Feb. 8, 2008
I like the soaring blankness of the page...the dirty city cleared away for the sheer greatness of the cosmic event.
Potato U Princess at 7:45PM, Feb. 8, 2008
Heh heh heh...Adios, Lizardboy! You don't deserve anybody's sympathy now! Dang, and I thought my answer to yesterday's question was right! Ah, well...At least I know I might have been kind of close...Hm, if that's not it, I have no idea what happens now. Now I can't wait for the next update! The suspense is killing me! No really, it is...*keels over and dies* (Just kidding!)

OK Sunday night at 11:50, I'm going to post my guess that I am 99% sure is right. Any time before and I would feel like a cheat for knowing the author. o and Evil Emperor, since no one actually tried to open the chest before our 2 little badguys did, I guess we can assume that the head guard made that part up so none of his underlings would try to steal it. Anywho, WONDERFUL PAGE! I love the light effects. I was wrong about tht lizard, AGH! I'm too gullible :(
JillyFoo at 4:11PM, Feb. 8, 2008
Very cool pages I've been missing. I'm too late to guess...? Sad. I'd say the big main character dragon was summoned.
Azarr at 3:56PM, Feb. 8, 2008
He has perhaps been given the first of the clues that will eventually lead him to the greatest treasure of all, if he can solve all those riddles? And/or he has been taught the language the book of answers is written in? It wouldn't surprise me as part of Crysthel's power is in it. Thought for the Day: An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded. Was that specific enough or do I have to read your thoughts?
Chameleon at 1:19PM, Feb. 8, 2008
HA.. take that lizardbreath ;) I love these last few pages, they're so bright
DCraig at 12:59PM, Feb. 8, 2008
The question in my mind now is why Mask's goddess seems to have the same facial markings as Narini and Ranu? Are they related? Would that mean the descendents of any god or goddess have the potential to tap the power of the book, just that Ranu is the first candidate to make contact?
DCraig at 12:28PM, Feb. 8, 2008
I think Rhian's got it. Only part of Chrysthel is in the book. The majority is in the amulet or whatever it is that's buried only Crysthel knows where.
RhianConway at 11:13AM, Feb. 8, 2008
YAY! This page is beautiful... *tear tear* Ranu lit up like a Christmas tree that's what happened! ^-^ okay...actual guess is a part of Crysthel locked in the book just got unleashed with Ranu's touching it. And SHE'S the shiny enveloping Ranu.
Wrenmisty at 11:04AM, Feb. 8, 2008
lol My first answer I can't seem to put into words, so I'll just go with the lame second one: Fate just happened :D
tannalein at 11:04AM, Feb. 8, 2008
The part of the dragon locked away in the book will bring back the memories of his people and he'll be able to read the book?
docmortand at 10:59AM, Feb. 8, 2008
I like the idea of the book becoming part of Ranu - makes it hard to fight over a book when it's gone, eh?
lennan at 9:21AM, Feb. 8, 2008
Well, he stepped on the book and it appears that he stepped on the lock? of the book. At first I was thinking it had something to do with the title. I wonder if where he steps is important. But does that then mean the the voice at the beginning of Chapter was, in fact, Crysthel planting that seed of fate? Also this is Crysthel's immediate answer to Ranu's prayer. It does two things 1) gets Kal'imh off his back so Ranu can meet Crysthel in the book (since we were obviously shown that she can speak through that piece of her. I was delighted to realise that the "Aah" was Crysthel's realising that finally the time was right. And 2) finally connects Crysthel via book to her knight (and the rest of the world) in shining armour , er rags I mean. The other thing I'm thinking, did Ranu not have magic before this incident? If so then he's receiving god given magic, or at the very least is reconnecting with ancestral magic. Which makes me wonder how is Ranu's race connected with Crysthel, outside of the book...but if the tongue's hard to read for others, then what you've been showing means those who have a birthright to the language would be able to read it easily if they have a correct connection to it so Ranu is also gaining a connection to the book and its contents. Which would be nice as well, in explaining how an illiterate boy can read a magical book without it being simply a matter of "he has the magic to do it" but rather he has to have a physical/magical connection that is given rather than actually there. Oh well, there's my fifty cents. To Evil Emperor Nick: I always thought it was that they couldn't open it at the outpost. Kal'imh wants them to take it out to their out post presumably where it would be less easy to detect its opening or maybe he was to eat the magic. XD
Evil Emperor Nick at 8:44AM, Feb. 8, 2008
Hmmm going on the law of plot advancement this is probably somehow teaching Ranu to read the book. I'm guessing the essence of the dragon is transfering into him. Ranu clearly has some connection to the book and the dragon, perhaps this is strengthening that connection. You know looking back I think I see a plot hole. The guys say they can't open the chess because their are spells on it but then in the next page they are opening it with no prolems.
Tabitha at 8:37AM, Feb. 8, 2008
"I'm BLIND!!!! *splat*" muahahahaha! take that! that's what you get for potentially killing Dart!
Evil Emperor Nick at 6:37AM, Feb. 8, 2008
Oh, Oh I know! He stepped onto the book and stared glowing and or was immersed in light, which blinded his attacker! Wait or were you asking in a less literal sense?
DCraig at 5:53AM, Feb. 8, 2008
Lizardboy contracted a fatal case of poetic justice. I guess I'm going to have to spend some time in the archives...
BrendanPN at 4:16AM, Feb. 8, 2008
hmmm. . .
mylittleworldX3 at 3:35AM, Feb. 8, 2008
1)the book has the dragon that gave everyone knowledge so now ranu gets his one question! 2) ranu just got some awesome new power involving light!
Azarr at 2:12AM, Feb. 8, 2008
The book contains the knowledge on how to release Crysthel from her prison/A part of her great knowledge and wisdom. That knowledge has sortof been printed into his brain. And I guess that the explosion thingie is the result of the power contained within the book that was unleashed, bright light of pure knowledge/wisdom. I did good? :P Thought for the Day: Knowledge is power, guard it well.
