The lyrics in the first panel, just in case someone doesn't recognize them, are from the musical version of “Cinderella.” That particular song is one of my favorites in the play.
The extra character talking to Meg is just a random girl who will show up from time to time in the series. She's a casual friend of Meg and Christine. Think of her as “filler.” Not essential to the plot, but gives the story a little more “fluff.”
