Y'know, mothers CAN sometimes just about make you snap. I remember one time my folks came to visit me and my 2nd husband. I had just had my tubes tied and was having a rough recovery (they didn't know this, of course) and was generally not feeling well, but I tried to put on a good face. The first thing - THE VERY FIRST THING - my mother said to me when she saw me was "I hate the hair, I hate that THING (indicating my eyebrow pierce); why do you do these things to yourself??" What I had done to my hair that was so offensive was to dye it red with henna and then, keeping is a bit longer on the top, shave up on the back and sides, leaving a longer strip in the middle on the back - sort of like a mohawk for the back of my neck. They only stayed two days, but I got so stressed out that I got sick and had to call out the next day after they left - I just told my boss they were staying another day.
