Seriously, the explanation for Metis' existance is almost the exact same as the shadow versions of the party members in Persona 4. Parts of themselves they wanna ignore and get rid of given physical shape.

@celestdaer Thats what the Butterfly was about, it was either Philemon or just straight up the power of the Wild Card, but either way, she essentially took MC's Persona, thats why Athena went into ORPEHUS immediately after the first battle with Metis
