This week’s writer’s challenge is Pinky TA. Go to the forums and write a short fanfic on Pinky TA. Those entries are pretty good, check them out! ^_^
Page description:
Cc’s cargo ship cruises in to the harbour at Tunis in the early morning. Cc can see that there’s activity and tension in the area… Ships are patrolling and lights are on. A small patrol vessel comes alongside to allow marines to board and investigate. The captain cleverly changes his name from light to dark… (not that you’d notice). Cc dives over the side with the rubbish.
Commentary:
The text is a bit tiny here, you’ll have to squint! There aren’t too many errors here… The ship is a bit high in the water for one so old, the sailors in the bottom left panel are a little squat, and some of the text is a bit small. It took a bit of research to get the design of the ship right, it’s all made-up but at least it doesn’t diverge too far from reality. I had a lot of fun with the texture and details here, especially the light reflections. The perspective was a bastard.
Writer's challenge!
Do the writer’s challenge It’s a fun way to practise your writing ^_^
(Next challenge is on Wednesday the 15th)
A note:
Go to my main site for the latest work (10th February, 2006). I’m uploading one page a day with commentary and explanations here.

alejkhan at 4:58PM, Feb. 13, 2006
That city/harbor scape is so amazingly wonderful. Damn I need to learn how to do backgrounds someday.... The dialogue bubbles/font in the last panel are teansy bit on the smallish side though.

Hahaha, no Zillas in this harbour Nick! ^_^ Thanx for the second comment Ruka. You too Colin. Are you sure it's your toes bobo? Thanx Hero Aw, you've god a good style all your own Joff ^^ Thanx Jilly, I like to think technically about it and that helps me make a pleasing image, (not "technically" about the construction of the image, but about what water looks like...). Thanx Crazy, Kam, Css, Lothar.

Ruka E Pocky at 11:30AM, Feb. 13, 2006
Oooh seriously. I hate to have to repeat compliments but damn your landscapes rock! The light reflections on the water are perfect.
Hero at 11:15AM, Feb. 13, 2006
Beautiful landscapes and nice detail on the ship.

JillyFoo at 8:45AM, Feb. 13, 2006
The waters do look so lovely at night. You made it just like the real thing.
CrazySOB at 8:34AM, Feb. 13, 2006
Wonderful page, the detail and the perspective are all quite amazing in this page. Fantastic job!
ccs1989 at 7:36AM, Feb. 13, 2006

Nick at 6:44AM, Feb. 13, 2006
I love the ships. Being a Zilla fan, I am just waiting for Godzilla to come above and start blowing shit up.

coinilius at 2:09AM, Feb. 13, 2006
Man, and I was impressed by the next page o_0 The first panel of this one alone is brilliant all by itself - the amount of detail you manage to get into your art is always very impressive. And again with the cool water effecrs :P
Ozoneocean at 12:33AM, Feb. 13, 2006
Thanx for the huge comment Gregory! That's wonderful of you to say. Ah, the map... I have no idea what became of it. You'd do best to ask about it in the forums. I wish I knew the link. Sorry about that Greg :( Yes coinilius, thanx for that ^_^ You were right, it was the wrong page O_o. It's fixed now. Thanx for the comment, I never knew if anybody really liked that page, now I do! Thanx Crazy. Ahhhh, it's a good comment for the next page ;) Ya Coy, and those are some giant buns to freeze ^^ Yep, classic buttocks inseutculnaime, for the next page though. Hahah, sorry. Hehe, thanx Iago and Magic, my first comments on the propper page! ^_^ Wheels in a trench coat?
iagojester at 12:17AM, Feb. 13, 2006
This is such a peaceful page compared to the ones prior. I really love the wash of greys...they're just so... immense.
magicalmisfits at 12:11AM, Feb. 13, 2006
Very nice I love the late night early morning feel of the pictures. I want to creat like this when I grow up. I can just see Wheels in a trench coat!
Ozoneocean at 11:59PM, Feb. 12, 2006
sorry guys...... wrong pages
coinilius at 9:51PM, Feb. 12, 2006
Man, this is a gorgeous looking page (even if it doesn't match the page description... by the sounds of it, you've missed a page?) - the colouring is just brilliant, and you're an absolute master of creating good looking water and water effects. The 'follow the arrow' thing to indicate the reading order doesn't really seem necessary to me - the page already 'flows' in that direction, and reading it computer and having to scroll down as I do makes your eye automatically follow that path anyway :)
Coydog at 9:39PM, Feb. 12, 2006
Yeah, she might wanna put something on. She must be freezing her buns off!
CrazySOB at 9:33PM, Feb. 12, 2006
Well, I haven't seen this page until right now, so I guess this is where I left off. That water is just...just beautiful.
Gregory at 9:20PM, Feb. 12, 2006
Ah, Pinky TA. A standard among us lesser comics. There's a handful of comics that exist in this upper echelon and you've championed a specific style within it. What that style is? I'm not entirely sure, but it's very artistic, gritty, sexual, and raw. In all honesty, it's tough to keep up with the story when the updates are sporadic, but reading through the archives again, I have gotten a much clearer idea of how and where things are going. I'm glad you've gone back over everything again and added in-depth notes to accompany your work. It's small steps like that that encourage autonomy in hosting, but neither myself nor anyone else here at the Duck would want that. Also, one last little thing. Long ago, in the pre-Meltdown days, you posted a link to a map of the world where each artist could add themselves to. I don't suppose you could re-link to that? I thought it was incredibly interesting and I'd like to see that site develop a little more, especially with all of the traffic from Smackjeeves. Thanks! Keep making your good comics. Keep shattering our dreams and making the rest of us look like what we really are: amateurs. How 'bout you share the talent-juice?
