Page description:
The Buccaneer is cruising through a dark day. We hear snatches of telephonic correspondence between the French Colonial Occupation Force in Tunisia and the high command of the French Coalition in Europe: Tunisia is out of luck. The Fleet Admiral discusses the real objectives of the actions in Matmata, Tunis, and elsewhere. In order to win their war, they spread it… Cleverly they’ve tied up colonial military resources in fighting local conflicts and keeping order so that their main war in Europe is all the easier. Captain Rasovich was never a full party to this big picture and now that it’s revealed, he’s appalled. He can harden his heart against the exigency of sacrificing a few sailors, but even he balks at treating whole countries that way. As you go up the chain of command the value of human life becomes less and less. ^_^
Commentary:
This is a rather talky page. All that nasty text covers up my lovely art! But it was always meant to be that way here. I love this page, it’s very blue. I worked quite differently here: I actually wrote out the text first and THEN drew the page in a way best suited to express that writing! I’ve never done that before… Usually the story is just all in my head and only written after I draw the page. I also drew this one up entirely on the computer, with no rough sketches, or scanned thumbnails. Lastly, the only reference I used was this page of Pinky TA. No photos, no mirrors, nothing, just memory. I’m quite proud of that, regardless of any mistakes.

lefarce at 3:39PM, June 28, 2006
Jes man! Your art makes me cry with envy! This is by far the BEST work I've ever seen on Drunk Duck!
Geejay at 6:49AM, June 28, 2006
Whoa! The detail on this is amazing! How long did this page take to finish? Great work.
Glass_Ink at 11:43PM, June 27, 2006
Such a BIG battelship too!!! You know what they say about BIG battleships...
iagojester at 9:43PM, June 27, 2006
AUGH! creepy wrinkly face! Glad to see I didn't miss much while I was in Europe.
SarahN at 9:26PM, June 27, 2006
So.....much.....detail....=O...
Hero at 3:55AM, June 26, 2006
Very interesting. And I have to agree that the creepy old man face is...well creepy although well drawn.
Green_Tangerine at 10:38PM, June 25, 2006
Agh, I'm going to see that wrinkled face in my nightmares. Nice plot development aside from that, it's always nice to see beautiful art complimented by an interesting story.

thumbs up!

Damn, I still have so many comics to catch up on⦠But Iâve caught up to a few more now. Ok, responses: Coydog: Thankyou, thankyea! ^^ Ah Coy, I quite like your warships! Theyâre bulky mountains of fighting steel, just like a warship should be. Thatâs a look I actually try to go for, but donât quite manage. Third Period: Not nearly wrinkly enough! Jenshin: Thanks a lot Jenshin ^^ I get more confident with shape and colour all the time. Doing a comic like this is the best thing for honing your skills. And THANKS so much for the pressie!!!! Thankyou, thankyou! ^_^ Madscott: Yes indeedy! Give be 1 billion $ US and sheâs yours! Iâll even gift-wrap her ^_^ â¦I think thatâs about how much theyâd cost now⦠Damned expensive. But they look lovely donât they? Good old style battleships! You can still see the Texas though. Sheâs sort of similar to the one here and sheâs still afloat. Probably the only WW1 Era battleship that is. Wayne: Boobs would be doublesweet⦠^^ Crazy: Thanx man. It just doesnât seem right unless thereâs lots of deail⦠Hawk: Thanks ^_^ I really like to imagine things from all sorts of angles, it helps to draw them better from the normal angles funnily enough. Gillsing: Hahahaha True! Nick: No, no mutiny on THIS Bounty. No no. Just people knowing whatâs what. We see that Captain Rasovich wasnât such a totally evil bastard afterall. Sub: Thanks so much Sub ^^ Mazoooo: Thanks very much Maz! Magical: Ha, damn word bubles⦠Ships are fantastic! My faves are the older ones⦠The battleships from the height of the battleship period: from just after WW1 to just before WW2, but mostly in the late 20âs, to the early 30âs. Thatâs when they reached their peak. They were the worldâs most powerful weapons, and probably the last real warships ever built: made to slug it out with other battleships and anything else afloat, to take it and dish it out. Fighting ships arenât made that way anymore, war has moved on⦠Thereâs no room for sea-fortresses anylonger. Kam: I always forget dialogue, but I make up appropriate stuff on the spot usually. But that does seem to be a decent way to work. I will try it again! Ruka: Hahahahaha! Thanks ^^ Glass: Itâs a BATTLESHIP! :P Thanks man, Iâm glad you like it. AlejKhan!: Ahhhh, long time ^_^ Thanks so much ALej, that means a lot. Ah, these last pages sort of reveal the bigger picture within which Pinky was Naught but a pawn. Zac The Ninja!: Ha! I Zac. Thankee! I really need to catch up on your work next. Radec: ^_^ Coydog: Aw⦠More like it just reveals whatâs been happening. Thereâs no way Iâd go more into the war in those other places⦠Hahaha, Maybe Iâve made a trap for myself, but this is only to show what Pinkyâs actions were all really just a part of. A small part. Updated Pink Skin!

Ooh, exquisite detail on the warship and in the faces. You put my old tubs to shame. Lots of dirty dealings going on here...
Thirdperiodlunch at 5:47PM, June 24, 2006
He's soooo wrinkly.
Jenshin at 4:34PM, June 24, 2006
I thought I'd say.. In case you didn't notice - I made you something! I was looking back through some of your comic.. Wow your art has really improved! Even though it was amazing from the beginning. Things feel much more concrete now.
madscott at 3:00PM, June 24, 2006
can you build me a ship
WayneEnterprise at 11:20AM, June 24, 2006
double sweet!
CrazySOB at 11:09AM, June 24, 2006
Sweeet, you're always one for fantastic detail.
Hawk at 10:57AM, June 24, 2006
Both the ship and his face are quite detailed! And you pulled off some excellent angles.
Gillsing at 10:36AM, June 24, 2006
Great page! I had a little trouble with the order of the word balloons in the second and third panel, but a little rereading never hurt anyone, right? ;-)
Nick at 9:57AM, June 24, 2006
i really dig this comic. Could I sense mutiny, though?
subcultured at 9:12AM, June 24, 2006
my eyes go to that 2nd to last panel. i like drawing wrinkles. awesoem scenery
Mazoo at 7:04AM, June 24, 2006
Great page! He's really wrinkly! As usual, the ships are in great detail. Really really nicely done!
magicalmisfits at 6:38AM, June 24, 2006
Wonderful work. I did a tirade about word bubbles covering art earlier this week. Being in the Coast guard the ships intrest me. The Battle ship is awsome. From memory! Marvelous! Pinky updates are always an event.
KAM at 5:38AM, June 24, 2006
I prefer writing dialogue first, then drawing, then, maybe, rewriting if the art turned out different, or I changed my mind on something. Also if I write the dialogue first, then i don't have to worry about forgetting what the original dialogue was, which has happened sometimes.
