Only use: stretch/skew, while something is selected, in the stretch option, with only numbers that end in 00(200, 300, 400, etc.); to resize.
And you have transparency errors:
While you have (one of) the select/move tool(s) selected, underneath the tool bar should be two click-ables; one is highlighted in blue, the other is not. Click on the one that is not. This will allow you to not have your background color (on the pallet) go with anything that is moved; so if your background color is white on the pallet, and sheet, you can move the sprite around without having to worry about the white going with it. However, make sure you fill in any white that the sprite may of had, cause that goes with the BG as well.
