I never really thought about it but you make a good point. Mario is a fucking plumber, not a cosmonaut, what's he doing in space? What's he doing in the mushroom kingdom for that matter? "Your Highness! Princess Toadstool has been kidnapped!" "Get me the fattest, tackiest plumber in the land!" That's not exactly normal.
