This is the last of three establishing a new character for Puf the Magic Daddy. It is unfinished. This was done over the Holidays when I was struggling with where to go with the strip. I have moved on from struggling to something closer to dissatisfied. I do not know where to take the strip. Iââ¬â¢ve grown tired of the gags that are not totally ripping.
I have found that the image in my head, the ââ¬Åideal plain,ââ¬Â of what I want to draw is far beyond my current abilities. Anyone who knows me would tell you that Iââ¬â¢m not talking about trying to be perfect or reach the ideal; Iââ¬â¢m not driven to control details in that way and quite comfortable with my imperfections. I believe that Plato was right in that the ââ¬Åideal plainââ¬Â is beyond reality and unreachable by us schmoes on earth [I donââ¬â¢t think he used that word]. And yet, for some of us, it is our lot to strive for the ideal. Reaching for an ideal should always make you strech, but the distance between where I am and my ideal is about the distance between my 2 finger tips and the top of the American or state flag pole.
Always reaching.
I guess Iââ¬â¢m saying this to explain why some of the postings have been non-com lately. The reality based comics of Puffs represent what I have been able to do without really trying. I am not going to abandon that because I still enjoy it. However, now Iââ¬â¢m working on developing some skill as well. Weââ¬â¢ll see where that leads.
I'm sorry.

I like how Puffy's word balloon carries over from panel one to the wrong side of "Sarg" on panel two! Awesome!
