Artemis hasn't seen her mom Leto since she was a teen. About 5 years ago. Leto got into major trouble sleeping with Zeus. Hera demanded her godhood be taken away. Feeling pressure Zeus agreed but said she can't hurt Leto and must accept Artemis was her daughter. Hera agreed halve heartedly to do this so but said Artemis could never see her mom for long time. that was the deal. Since Leto became a goddess by eating Ambrosia she was forbidden to eat anymore and so reverted back to mortal. Not that that is cleared up read on. Thanks to all my readers!
