bent toe ?!?!?!?
n_y_japlander on Feb. 24, 2009
I have come to figure out that most culture shock comes from food, language, or the mixture of them both!
I just love udon ,I could eat it every day!!!
Now bento on the other hand, some of them are good, but they are made to be eaten cold or at room temperature (boxed lunch brought from home to be eaten at work or school), so some of the meat bento boxes just loose something for me…
Thanks so much for reading… I really appreciate every comment that everyone leaves!!
Corey
* this is the 201st update… but the 176th comic page… so I will let everyone know when the 200th strip is posted, and do somein special for the couple of fans of Raw Fish!!!

If I can get into a local town with a restaurant which offers Bento Boxes for lunch sometime I'll try it, but avoid the straight ones ;o)

I love Asian food but I'm sure I haven't had the variety you have.
dgriff13 at 2:17PM, Feb. 25, 2009
yeah, some foods have names that just sound gross. The language difference doesn't help, either. I think George Carlin did a whole skit on it... yogurt, head cheese, wheat germ, succotash.... eww!

I like udon too, especially on cold days. My friend *used* to like udon until she was eating it while reading a comic about eating worms.
mattchee at 8:08AM, Feb. 25, 2009
ha ha! I'm familiar with udon, but I'll have to check out bento... see what that's about!
Gabe Puratekuta at 7:20AM, Feb. 25, 2009

I also love the rich culinary history you've provided for us via Wikipedia. This is super. You're actually making me hungry. :)

Udon is delicious. Have been making some noodle bowls in with veggies and a peanut sauce made from scratch and those noodles are so yummy!
houseofmuses at 6:32AM, Feb. 25, 2009

Cute word pun. Bento is delish!
TBustah at 3:02AM, Feb. 25, 2009
Yes, udon is great. But I like bento too. I wish National's (one of the Japanese places here in Carson, and my personal favorite) served udon. They have the best chicken teryaki in western Nevada, but no udon. I got that DS cooking trainer thing for Christmas, and one of the recipes is udon, so I'll have to try making it myself sometime.
warefish at 2:08AM, Feb. 25, 2009
HA! I think I'll stick with udon...
ToonmanAZ at 12:58AM, Feb. 25, 2009
