the K. teacher has informed me that she is worried that nuala draws dragons.. she gave me a long talk about childrens art and what its to look like and what it tells her about the child's brain.. i think it just says she it my kid.. and dragons like football..
Normally it might be considered a problem but there are two things her teacher doesn't know. 1 - The dragons are mummy's, so the fact that they are dragons just means you are respected.
2 - the sad kid dragon is Summer, not herself. And is probably just grumpy, not sad
I've been rereading Ursula K. Le Guin's The Language Of The Night & she said something to the effect of, Those who fear dragons fear freedom. (Not an exact quote, but certainly the sentiment.)
*I* Think it's a great picture! It's great that your daughter draws, and her drawings look like something. (mine still don't for the most part)
Dragons are cool! I'm sorry the hear that she has a small minded teacher. I don't see what the issue with them could be. They aren't scarry, mean, violent or gory. They are happy and enjoying soprts together.
To me, it actually gives a very positive and creative impression. I think your daughter has a good imagination and is proabaly a pretty fun kid to hang out with.
I hope you encourage her to keep drawing, anything she wants. :)
Don't ever let someone else tell you what your (or your children) should think. That is how people stifle creativity. People should encourage creativity. I've always tried to do that with my children, and now my daughter has her own webcomic! Actually two, All the Small Things and Gizmo's Gallery.
I don't know where she gets her talent, but I know it's not from me! I have a hard time drawing a straight line!
Tell her she did a great job, and she should draw whatever she wants. Good luck!
Sorry for the long post, but I was inspired to write a lot!

A child's mind is like art, analysis only detracts from the enjoyment of the subject. it was the moral in a clipart webcomic i read somewhere.
