#215a A Suicide in Destiny City Part One

A Suicide in Destiny City was divided into three parts. The Book of Happy Endings is the first part. Here we have the first appearances of Charlie ‘The Shadowraiser’ Hiroshima and Alice ‘The Mirror’ Queen – members of The Destiny Patrol.

These were characters I made back when I was really little (like 2nd or 3rd grade). I created my own superhero universe and used Star Wars Action Figures to tell their stories. The Shadowraiser was originally called ‘Sundown’ (probably inspired by that Gordon Lightfoot song) and was the arch-enemy of this other creation ‘Captain Japan’ who was this amazing ninja (and both were probably inspired by that GI Joe character ‘Storm Shadow’). Sundown had the ability to use shadows as weapons.

The Mirror was originally called Mirror Girl. She had the power to reflect any physical attack on her back at her attacker.

Some time in High School, I imagined them being on a Super Team together. A very diverse team – (probably inspired by Captain Planet cartoons) called The Destiny Patrol. But though I had tons of stories for them in my head I never bothered to do anything with them till like 2005 when I wrote the original prose story that this is adapted from, which was kind of an Alan Moore type deconstruction of the whole concept. (Inspired by Moore's Miracleman stuff).
