Hee hee... Dickwit.
harryq at 3:34AM, Dec. 10, 2007
I love Stan.
DAJB at 2:59AM, Dec. 8, 2007
JNP: Yup - video games, comics and food additives. And/or having a murderous thug hot on your tail! Thip: Exactly. But cavalry are like policemen. They're never around when you need one! Peipei: Heh. He's doing his best!
JustNoPoint at 3:46PM, Dec. 7, 2007
Runs for like 3 minutes and forgets what he is supposed to do. I tell you it is all cause of video games and comics that kids are like this nowadays!
thip at 10:37AM, Dec. 7, 2007
High time for the cavalry to arrive - even if this is a british story! Stan would've felt right at home in the Light Brigade ;o)
Peipei at 4:34AM, Dec. 7, 2007
Woot! Get em Grandpa :3!
DAJB at 12:01AM, Dec. 7, 2007
Space: Oops - I accidentally addressed your reply to Midge. Sorry about that! So, anyway ... Yup. We guys have such nice nicknames for each other, don't we?!
DAJB at 11:06PM, Dec. 6, 2007
JMT: Thanks. I like that one, too. And the close-up on Sunil in the last panel. Ah, what they hey - I like them all! Midge: Yup. We guys have such nice nicknames for each other, don't we?! Trevor: Thanks. Rutger: Hide, indeed!
jmt at 3:37PM, Dec. 6, 2007
The action here is great. I love frame 4
spacehamster at 2:01PM, Dec. 6, 2007
Dick... wit.
Rutger at 12:10PM, Dec. 6, 2007
I'm guessing Boo will be for another time. Hide!
DAJB at 10:00AM, Dec. 6, 2007
Tantz: Thanks. (But, if you mean the inner dialogue in Panel 1, that's Stan's, not Sunil's. Sorry for the confusion - I was banking on the colour-coding being enough of a clue!) Adam: Baseball bats must swing better or something. Their use as a weapon isactually recognised over here, whereas cricket bats don't seem to have acquired any use other than as a sports accessory. Shame really - we could have made lots of jokes about LBW otherwise! LJS: Thanks. mlai: Actually the script for Shades was fully written before I'd even heard of The Incredibles (let alone Edna Mode!) The most direct inspiration for having a "non-super" central character came from the photographer Phil Sheldon in Alex Ross's Marvels. I thought that was a great idea but so poorly executed. (What's the point of a central character if he spends the whole story standing on the sidelines doing nothing?!) The idea of then making our everyman a tailor was just a nice way of tying him into the hero community.
Tantz_Aerine at 9:33AM, Dec. 6, 2007
Great moves and pretty assertive old man. And love Sunil's inner dialogue ;)
Adam Black at 9:16AM, Dec. 6, 2007
I can only give you 5 points out of the 10 you guys deserve for the BASEBALL BAT TO THE FACE panel. But I suppose it all works out, because I'd have to dock you 5 points for using a baseball bat and not a cricket bat. ;) Also: Run, Sunil! RUUUN!!!!!
ljs5123 at 7:52AM, Dec. 6, 2007
Total pro stuff here.
mlai at 5:56AM, Dec. 6, 2007
Well I just burned thru yet another archive. This one was fun! For some reason I keep hearing the kid in a Huckleberry Finn accent. It's just that everything he says is suited to it. Tailor for the superheroes, eh? Not as glamorous as the one in The Incredibles... I wish I could do heavy blacks like that. Saves so much work!
DAJB at 5:38AM, Dec. 6, 2007
Midge: You could be right. He is kinda out-numbered and (metaphorically speaking!) out-gunned, too! Abt: Thanks! I'm sure you're well aware by now just how committed I am to keeping the dialogue going even through action sequences ... Rather than using it to play up a sense of Silver Age bravado, however, in this scene I thought I could use Stan's thoughts to put his actions into context and highlight the risk he's taking. Now ... how do you turn a page around here?! Nepath/cs3: Thanks, guys!
TheMidge28 at 4:43AM, Dec. 6, 2007
I imagine some high energy action music as Stanley rumbles with these guys. Can't wait to see how much more damage he does. Something tells me the tables will turn on him.
Abt_Nihil at 3:08AM, Dec. 6, 2007
Must... comment on... new page... now!! Nice way to enter some superhero-type action monologue into the story :D I'm at the edge of my seat, I hope this doesn't get any worse! It would be a real page-turner... if only I had a page to turn.
DAJB at 12:00AM, Dec. 6, 2007
SoItBegins: He's just borrowing it. Gobbo will probably want it back when he's finished! ;) Lemnis: And some nasty possibilities, too. I hope I picked one of the nice ones ...! Milky: Let's hope so ... otherwise he could be in real trouble!
SoItBegins at 11:55PM, Dec. 5, 2007
See, Gran'pa brought his stick!
Lemniskate at 11:23PM, Dec. 5, 2007
Oy! There are so many nice possibilities how this might continue.
Milky at 10:14PM, Dec. 5, 2007
He is *such* a badass! XD
