Chapter 4 - Page 12

Work on the page re-design continues. I've revamped the links area on the right and you can read more about that here.
Apart from that, all I really have to say is … party sensibly tonight, everyone. (Wow - there's a contradiction in terms!) Hope to see you all in the New Year!
Oh, and we also have a Character Study of Boo in the Shades forum now. It does contain a plot spoiler or two, though, so don't read it if you hate seeing things revealed before they appear in the comic!

Abt: Thanks. (See my reply to Tantz re the body language). As for Stan, I thought it was important for him to be injured at the end of his ordeal. We're so used to heroes walking away fom a fight unscathed, I wanted to show that heroism has consequences ... otherwise it wouldn't be heroic, right?! Oh, and no need for thanks (just keep the comic coming!) but, yeah, the links are new. I'm still playing with that area (I just have far too many comics I'd like to highlight!) but it's starting to take shape. Tantz: Thanks. This was an important page for the structure of the chapter. As you've probably noticed, virtually the whole of this chapter is one long fight scene. This page is the transition between all the frantic action that's gone before and the next two (much!) quieter pages. I therefore wanted it to calm things down but retain an air of tension. I also wanted it to establish Boo's authority (so thanks for spotting that!) but without losing the personalities of Maureen and Joyce. They're only minor characters so their every word and gesture had to be made to count - fortunately Harsho's pretty good at that subtle stuff!

I agree with Tantz Aerine, great use of body language all around. Hope Stan gets back on his feet again. And thanks for the link to A.D, don't know if that's one of the changes in layout or if it's been there for a while. Either way, it's an honor *takes a bow*

You know, I am starting to envy your page layout. XD And I LOVE this page. Even the 'almost demasking' panel which sort of leaves me trying to peek behind her mask. I also really like the attitude and layout- shows who is the one calling the shots in this place.

SoItBegins: Boo's alter ego - Ellen Sansom, founder of the Women in Crisis shelter. It'll be made clearer in the next page or two but thanks for reminding me to mention this in Boo's Character Study! JNP: Thanks. And, yeah - poor old Stan!

So close to seeing her face. Nice waiting technique you applied there. Poor Stanley
