Now, if you're paying attention at the back … Panels 5 - 8 on this page of pseudo-science is our not-so-subtle way of telling you what Doug's “powers” are and how he got them. Yes, real powers - at last! The “Brain Storm” whose theories are being recounted here, was a character who never made it into the final comic. There's a little more info on him (and some other rejected characters) here.
Note: If you need to remind yourself how Doug came to be in this position, it's not too late to re-cap on Part 1 of Doug's story!

Doug's cool as hell. He willed himself not to die. Great page, love everything about it. Lots of flashbacks are dull and stupid, but this one is awesome. More!

That totally sucks o.o He survives the crash fine. His parachute doesn't look like its in good shape tho lol I wonder if he lived...
