Chapter 5 - Page 12

So, for anyone who's interested in this type of thing, Panel 1 on this page is essentially the “explanation” for why the core characters in Shades don't age. Their spirits have “fused” with those from the Shaman's spirit world. See - it's so obvious when you know! ;-)
Reminder: Don't forget to look in on the BVC Scrap Book here at DD. Over the weekend we added even more pages to DajbDevil, the super hero spoof I made with nothing more advanced than a ballpoint pen and an illicitly obtained school exercise book. Aaah, the things we used to do while waiting for someone to invent the PC!

Ooooohhh......! As for the shaman thing: huh? I liked it better without the explanation. With it, it all seems to complicated. But that's just me.
Doctor Shadow at 5:09AM, Feb. 18, 2008
That would be kick-ass to see in a movie! Great work, good theory.
harryq at 5:00AM, Feb. 18, 2008
To paraphrase a very wise guy, that's just AWESOMECRAZY right there!
scottyduke at 4:59AM, Feb. 18, 2008
Awesome!

Doug's taking on fighters with a pistol! That dude is hardcore. Makes me wonder if Danny's out there with him sans plane. Probably not, that's a tough act to follow. Interesting explanation, its setting up the future/present quite nicely.

i see.....i'm definatly hooked...

Abt: I've not heard of Project A-Ko. I'll be off to google it, as soon as I've clicked the "Say It" button! Ark: Honestly - I don't know yet! Originally the voices of Pinkie, Danny and the others were going to be present in all Doug's fight sequences. In the current draft of the script, though, I've cut them out of the scenes after this one. However, I always re-write the script for each chapter before the artwork starts (and sometimes again after it's finished!) and, at the moment, I'm kind of leaning towards putting them back in. We'll see ...! Peipei: Nope - not psychological. Genuine, bona fide messages from his dearly departed wing-men!
Abt_Nihil at 2:47AM, Feb. 18, 2008
He's... jumping from plane to plane? I am having a truly inappropriate flashback to Project A-Ko right now.
Arkdelta at 2:38AM, Feb. 18, 2008
A Spirit of the Age, eh? Considering that age, that's potentially way more powerful than anything so simple as invulnerability and flight. I have to say I like the voices power, does he still get those (and do they still talk in pilot's lingo against terrestrial enemies?) Anyway, I like it! Most interesting!
Peipei at 2:03AM, Feb. 18, 2008
Woah o.o I wonder if he brought this incident up to a psychiatrist after it took place. Although from the looks of it, it doesn't seem entirely psychological :3 I'm curious as to what is about to happen to him as well

Sky: Funny you should say that ... When writing this sequence, the temptation to have the German pilots yell "Achtung!" and "Donner und Blitzen!" was almost too hard to resist! Milky/Adam: Thanks, guys!
skyangel at 1:19AM, Feb. 18, 2008
You think of everything!! I really love this tonal work for the flashback sequence. Reminds me of the old 'Victor' type comic stories
Adam Black at 12:50AM, Feb. 18, 2008
That's just CRAZYAWESOME right there.
Milky at 10:25PM, Feb. 17, 2008
Kickass!
