I am SO GLAD she's not just a helpless damsel in distress. I much prefer a capable heroin. I also like that she's not at the other end of the spectrum where she immediately unleashes an arsenal of attacks and turns her attacker into a fine mist. I like some subtlety in my fiction.
Demon tried to use mind control. To my way of thinking, that puts us well past 'peaceful resolution' phase, but guess Cotton is less prone to violence.
She is very unlikely to resort to violence. While venomous, powerful, and even when innately skilled in magic, she prefers to not do harm, even to demons. Mostly because she doesn't want to become like them, and partly because it is not in her nature. Some people (and naga) need to be really pushed before they finally resort to physical aggression.
