Chapter 1 - Page 11
Kiah on Feb. 25, 2008
I did this one a little after the last page I updated here, so the action and panelling still isn't perfect. However, I did work my ass off on the thumbnail for the next page and I think it'll be much nicer.
It's hard to remember that this is my first comic, I push myself pretty hard to do things but sometimes I get so caught up in it, I make it worse.
I'm happy with the flow of action on this page. Now I just need to bring flow of action together with dynamic panelling and I think we'll be getting somewhere.
Also, I'm going back through the old pages and replacing my shitty handwriting with a nicer handwriting style font. I thought maybe my handwriting would make things look more gritty but really, it just makes everything look awful. Huzzah!
Thanks again for comments and criticisms, it all helps push me to be a better comic artist

justa quick reality check kinda question... covering virtualy every zombie comic i've ever read, how come when you hit people they go 'oomph' and maybe bleed a little, however when you hit a zombie they go 'splunch' and practically explode... if it has something to do with decomposition, you'd think that they'd still hold up a little better and after a point they wouldn't have any blood left in them... i dono, it seems to be the unspoken law of zombie comics on a happier note, love love love your art. This is one of the greatest pages I've seen... This little girl is my favorite character right now!

Wow. You have such good command of action. If you hadn't said this was your first comic, I'd never have guessed.

Totally makes sense, Midge! That's what I'm working on with the next page! More dynamic panelling and more interesting camera angles for fight scenes! =]

I love this sequence as well. its dynamic from your gritty style and rendering...but I wonder if you can move the pov/camera to different angles? I know you can. you are doing really great. there's no inability on your part in the art dept or writing. the thing you are working or should is the choices. I hope that makes sense.

Just, I actually tried exactly what you said yesterday while I worked on my thumbnail for the next page, and I think it'll be alot better once I finally get it done. Things look much more dynamic and the panels are infinitely more interesting. Now I've just got to translate that to the final page....! :D

I really like this page. Man with your skill you'll be able to pull some hellacious dynamic scenes out. I love your want to improve! A tip that I use for getting a good dynamic flow is to sketch the action out without panels. You may have to do it a few times to find a good flow, but it really makes it look neat. Though I really like the layout for this page as well. You are marvelous!
