Whoever dreamed up the 7-pointed star was a terrible terrible person. -_- That said, I greatly enjoyed drawing Sheriff Franklin (except for his accursed star).
In oddly related real life news, a few days ago, I photographed an adorable little rodent at work, looked through some field guides to ID, and sent my determination to my supervisor without much thought aside from the usual fun of sharing wildlife sightings. He showed our staff biologist. The biologist confirmed my identification – and then told me it was the first record we have of this species on the Blue Ridge Parkway. (They have done a few mammal surveys in the past and never saw it.)
Hispid Cotton Rat. Ridiculously cute in person, roughly the size (and shape) of a baseball.

Tiniest nutria ever! (Nutria are weird. They look like wallaby-beaver. This looks more like a bunny-mouse.) And thank you!

Currently reading Abominable Science! Origins of the yeti, nessie and other famous crytids. By Daniel Loxton and Donald Prothero. Good book on crypto zoology with some deep research as opposed to cut and paste like most non-skeptical works.

Sounds interesting. I like reading speculative works. I even read stuff that pretends to be fact (but I find implausible) if the story-telling is good.

Martina is running out of options here. Better get creative before the Discovery Channel shows up. Or worse anyone who writes for the Skeptic!

I've noticed that sheriff's have five, six, seven and even eight pointed stars as badges (never saw a four pointed sheriff badge but it might be out there). I don't know why. Just something the department picks or is there a scheme or reasoning behind the different pointed badges?

Dunno. More points for outlaws run out of town? Gotta run out 5 to qualify. Then you can rank up.
