Depending on the congregation, yes, the Catholic church still uses wine - though often so low in alcohol that it really doesn't matter. Part of the reason is simply that real wine does not spoil as quickly as grape juice - and some places even fortify the wine to increase its longevity. Canon 924 §3 The wine must be natural, made from grapes of the vine, and not corrupt. So, made from grapes, and not turning into vinegar. But not all congregations adhere to Canon law. ...not knowing, have to ask, but do they actaully use wine? Any place I've been to used grape juice.
