Actually, her entire school was memory-wiped to ensure they don't find out the secret that she is actually a vampire cyborg. %) In fact, she had to transfer out because of that and stay out of town until the dust settled. That's also the problem with her "mom": she isn't her real mother. And her "dad" is actually one of the scientists working for the military who created her.
